Reunion : an island of startling natural beauty, boasts some of the most superb natural landscapes in the world. Here, your dreams are sure to come true. The island's origins are volcanic, and it retains an ever-present reminder of its fiery beginnings in the form of an active volcano. Réunion Island is particularly suitable for holiday-makers who have a taste for exploration and discovery.
Reunion Island lies to the east of Africa in the Indian Ocean, roughly 800km from the coast of Madagascar and 200km from its island twin, Mauritius. Reunion Island has a host of spectacular scenery for you to discover. Wherever you are on the island, you can always see at least one of its spectacular mountains soaring high into the sky. These mountains and highlands, bearing names such as Le Piton des Neiges (Snow Peak – the highest on the island), Maïdo, Grand Bénare, Roche Ecrite, Dimitile, Cilaos and Mafate, are breathtakingly beautiful and heartily recommended to the visitor.
There are so many ways for you to explore the island : on foot, on horseback, by mountain bike or even by paraglider. There are also many different terrains to explore: there are ravines galore which are ideal for canyonning ; the mountains offer some great climbing possibilities; and the white water rapids, which lend themselves perfectly to rafting. Not forgetting, of course, the beautiful emerald waves lapping the islands' numerous beaches. Reunion Island is a land where authenticity and originality blend together to create an experience you'll never forget.
