This ancient stone barn has recently been renovated into
a beautiful cottage. The property retains many of its original features and has
been furnished with a clever mix of old and new providing all you will need for
an enjoyable and relaxing holiday. There
is a large fully equipped kitchen with dining area, separate lounge two
bathrooms, one with a walk-in shower and double sinks the other has a bath. The
bedrooms are furnished with large comfortable beds and the landing area
provides additional sleeping if required.The property also boasts a large outside living
space and a pretty enclosed area for sun worshipers with lovely views over the
back garden, lake and fields beyond.
The Property
Le Farat is situated minutes from Auvillar, a medieval
bastide village. The village is listed as one of the most beautiful in France (plus
beaux villages de France), boasts stunning views over the Garonne valley, has
an unusual circular grain market and is also an important stop on the “Chemin
de Saint Jacques de Compostelle” (the famous pilgrims walking route through
France).
Dating from 1800’s this lovely stone complex of buildings
consists of a large manor house surrounded by outbuildings and is set in
beautiful secluded grounds of over 5 acres with its own private fishing lake
and walled salt water swimming pool.
The property is approached along a gravelled drive, which
takes you through the extensive lawned garden and orchard to the huge original
oak front doors at the main house where we will be waiting to greet you with a
warm welcome.
Local Village
Auvillar is just 5 minutes from the house and boasts fine
views across the Garonne Valley. With its unusual circular covered market, it
is an important stop on the route taken by the pilgrims on Saint Jacques de
Compostelle . Today the quaint village of about 1000 residents has many
charming attractions with a weekly farmers market, local restaurants, and a
variety of shops including a bakery, a grocer and a pharmacy, there is even a
hairdresser if the need takes you!
