The Neolithic era is well represented by its set of dolmens located on the Grande Pallière. Not far from the megaliths and recently, numerous cupules have been discovered, the ritual nature of which is beyond doubt.
The rock of Saint-Julien, on the flank of which the city was built, bears at its summit the traces of a Gallic Oppidum and a Roman Castrum.
