Gîte for 4 people 10 km from Salers, in the Auvergne Volcanoes Regional Natural Park - Gîte des 2 frênes
About this Holiday rental
Anglards-de-Salers is a mountain village located on the edge of the Mars valley. It brings together a multitude of hamlets, including that of Menterolles where the gîte des 2 frênes is located.
You will stay in the Auvergne Volcanoes Regional Natural Park, a stone's throw from the Cantal mountains. An exceptional natural and landscape heritage awaits you for a 100% natural holiday.
A holiday home with garden for 4 people in Anglards-de-Salers
The Gîte des 2 Frênes occupies a charming stone house recently renovated. It will be easy for you to recognize the house with its two-tone roof and its 2 ash trees which mark the entrance. The place has a peaceful and bucolic atmosphere.
Semi-detached, the house is no less independent since it has an independent entrance and its own garden. In addition, a low stone wall, surmounted by an old wrought iron gate, marks the separation between the two properties.
The renovation of this 90 m2 house has breathed a modern soul into the old house. From the ground floor, the tone is set. The wooden beams and the majestic stone cantou (old fireplace) cohabit with contemporary furniture.
The kitchen open to the living room is modern and functional. It has plenty of storage and equipment (hob, oven, dishwasher, etc.). The living room and the dining area are gathered around the cantou. The decoration mixes old and modern with taste. Sofa, armchair: comfort is essential. The bathroom and separate toilet are on the ground floor.
A wooden staircase leads upstairs where you will find 2 cozy bedrooms and a dressing room. The first bedroom has a double bed, the second has 2 single beds. When you arrive, the beds will be made.
In fine weather, you can take advantage of the tranquil environment of the garden to dine outside or stroll in the sun. If you come with bicycles, a storage room is at your disposal. A location is provided to park your car.

Holidays to refresh your body and mind
Between the peaks of the Cantal massif, heritage and natural points of interest, outdoor activities and local products, you will enjoy your holidays in Cantal. In Anglards-de-Salers, you will appreciate the quality of the landscapes and the diversity of the built heritage. Ovens, laundrettes, wells, Calvaries… rub shoulders with more imposing buildings such as the Château de la Trémolière.
The Château de la Trémolière dates from the end of the 15th century. It owes its fame to an exceptional collection of Aubusson tapestries which represent scenes where real or imaginary animals mingle. The orchard of Déduit, the garden of the castle, designed by the landscape architects Ossart and Maurières, is inspired by Le Bestiaire Fantastique of the tapestries. The castle comes alive in the summer and hosts exhibitions.
The Château de la Trémolière is part of the circuit of the historic Route of the castles of Auvergne. By following this route, you can visit the Château d'Auzers or the Château d'Anjony in Tournemire.
Extend your visit to the charming town of Tournemire, listed as the Most Beautiful Villages in France. Observe the houses with slate or slate roofs with their door lintels and old window frames.
On the road to the Most Beautiful Villages of France, your path will inevitably lead you to Salers. Located about ten kilometers from your holiday rental, Salers has a remarkable medieval and Renaissance heritage: the gates of the Belfry and the Martille, the Maison du Bailliage, the Maison de la Ronade, the Maison des Templiers... The dark color of the volcanic stone and lauze roofs give it a very mineral beauty.
Salers is classified among the Remarkable Sites of Taste. And for good reason, no less than 4 local products or specialties bear his name: Salers meat, Salers cheese, Salers squares and the Salers aperitif. To discover them, sit down on the terrace of one of the many restaurants in the medieval city.
To learn more about Cantal (cheese), 2 sites near your cottage are to be discovered. First of all, the summer pasture walk. A 12 km round trip hike, punctuated by 20 explanatory terminals on the history of the cheese business. In addition, the 360° view of the Cantal mountains and the Sancy massif is magnificent.
The Maison de la Salers in Saint-Bonnet-de-Salers is an interactive museum dedicated to the Salers cow. Touch screens and short films punctuate the visit, which ends with a tasting of local products.
The Mars Valley is home to the richest flora and fauna. Starting from the hamlet of Noux, in the town of Anglards-de-Salers, the Impalier circuit (a 6 km loop) is particularly suitable for nature observation. From the belvedere of Impalier you can admire the view of the valley.
Hiking trails allow you to criss-cross the Mars valley: from Le Falgoux, "Le Mars" (12 km-3h30) or "Les Saguisses (6 km-2h); from St-Vincent-de-Salers "Le Bois du Vaulmier" (10 km-3h45).
The Cantal mountains form the largest volcano in Europe. The summits, ridges and plateaus that you will observe during your walks are one and the same volcanic edifice. The Puy Mary, the Plomb du Cantal, the Puy Griou… are among the highest peaks.
Le Puy Mary - Grand Site de France, is recognizable by its pyramidal silhouette. To reach its summit, go to the Col du Pas de Peyrol and take the path. At 1,783 meters, the view over the valleys is splendid.
At the foot of Puy Mary, stop at the Maison de site du Pas de Peyrol. This place brings together lots of information on volcanism, fauna and flora, mountain biking routes, short and long-distance hiking trails...
If you are looking for activities to do with the family, plan a picnic at the Salins waterfall, a pedalorail outing (departing from Drignac station), or a day at the Onirika leisure park (in the Falgoux forest) .
