On the occasion of a sporting or rather relaxing week, the municipal gîte Le Mamou welcomes you at an altitude of 900 meters, in the hamlet of Boussac, in the town of Saint-Simon.
In the heart of the Jordanne valley, just 9 km from Aurillac, you can practice outdoor activities such as hiking, cycle tourism, mountain biking, observation of fauna and flora... within a verdant territory.
A duplex apartment in a character house
It is in a beautiful character house, with green shutters, that Mamou's gîte is located. The gîte occupies part of the building, the entrance is shared with the other occupants of the house. The garden and courtyard are also shared.Le Mamou gite is a duplex apartment of 60 m² fitted out for 4 people. Functional and practical, this vacation rental is ideal for a stay with family or friends.
The living room on the ground floor has a kitchen area equipped with hotplates, microwave oven, refrigerator, small appliances and washing machine. In the center of the room, a round table faces the fireplace with insert.
Two convertible sofas and a television make up the lounge area. Independent toilets complete the layout of the ground floor.
Upstairs you will find the two bedrooms and the bathroom with shower and toilet. The blue bedroom has a double bed (140 cm x 190 cm), the yellow bedroom has a bunk bed with 2 beds (90 cm x 190 cm). The 2 bedrooms offer a beautiful open view of the surrounding countryside.

A holiday to immerse yourself in nature
Why not start your stay with a discovery of Saint-Simon? On the program: a painted work of more than 100 m² and a 400-year-old plant monument.The frescoes of the church of Saint Simon illustrate the life of Gerbert, a “child of the country” born in the year 939, and who became the first French pope under the name of Sylvester II. They were made in 2005 by the Hungarian painter Gabor Szinte.
The majestic lime tree of Saint-Simon sits enthroned on the small square of the church. Its imposing dimensions and venerable look will not leave you indifferent. This remarkable tree is a "Linden of Sully" whose origin dates back to a decision by Sully, Minister of Henri IV, to plant lime trees or elms in the villages of France.
The “Les Mélicomps” pedestrian circuit starts (and ends) at the Sully lime tree on the village square. This 11 km walk will take you from the hamlet of Belliac to the Château d'Oyez, passing by the medieval bridge of Saint-Simon.
Hiking, cycling, horseback riding, walks on the ridges of volcanoes or along the river, swimming in a lake or visiting remarkable villages, one thing is certain, you will not be bored!
The Jordanne valley is one of the seven valleys descending from Puy Mary. Located within the Cirque de Mandailles, it is dotted with waterfalls (La Menette, Chaumeil, Mejanet, Liadouze, Luc). To walk along the river, take the discovery trail from the Gorges de la Jordanne to Saint Cirgues de Jordanne. A walk punctuated by footbridges, bridges, floating pontoons to cool off along the water.
The lake of Saint-Etienne Cantalès is the largest artificial water reservoir in Auvergne. About thirty kilometers from your vacation rental, the site is ideal for water sports, swimming and fishing.
The Puech des Ouilhes, is a peninsula born from the water retention of the dam. Electric boats, paddles, pedal boats, canoe, you can rent boats and go sailing on the water or simply take a dip, a beach is equipped.
Lake Saint-Étienne-Cantalès has 3 launches for boats (Espinet, Renac and Puech des Ouilhes). Zander, perch, pike, carp and white fish frequent the waters of the lake. Whether you are an experienced fisherman or an amateur, you will find something to satisfy your passion!
The landscapes of Cantal have been partly shaped by volcanic activity. It is a paradise for lovers of unspoilt nature and wide open spaces: hikers, cyclists and mountain bikers.
At the heart of the Auvergne Volcanoes Regional Natural Park, Puy Mary, Grand site de France® is the emblematic site of Cantal. It is easily accessible on foot from the Pas de Peyrol pass. At 1,783 meters above sea level, the view is unobstructed and the panorama of the Cantal volcano magnificent.
No less than 34 short hiking trails (PR) and 2 GR®, i.e. more than 350 km of hiking, run through the territory of Puy Mary. Alone or accompanied by a professional, you can find the hike that suits you by choosing its location and difficulty.
Puy Griou, Plomb du Cantal, Chavaroche, Peyre Arse… are all exceptional sites for hiking! The Lioran resort offers, winter and summer, many leisure activities for the whole family.
Cycle tourists and mountain bikers will not be left out to indulge in their sport. There are many marked trails and winding roads. Horseback riding, paragliding, observation of fauna and flora… are among the activities you can practice.
During your stay, you can explore the charming villages of Cantal. The Small Towns of Character of Montsalvy and Marcoles, Salers and Tournemire, classified among the most beautiful villages in France. Take the opportunity to taste the local specialities: truffade, pounti, meat from Salers, charcuterie, not to mention the cheeses!
You will necessarily go to Aurillac, the prefecture of the department. Its city center is pedestrianized, which is very pleasant to discover the medieval houses, the mansions, the Abbey of Saint-Géraud, the Museum of Art and Archeology, or the Museum of Volcanoes. At the end of August, the shows of the International Street Theater Festival enliven the city.

L'authenticité des lieux au coeur de la nature. L'équipement du logement et son confort basique - pas de superflu -. Il manque très peu de choses
L'absence de réseau téléphonique et informatique, mais est-ce vraiment un manque...
Excellent séjour dans un cadre magnifique et un calme appréciable. Nous sommes hors du temps et de l'oppression du quotidien.
Owner response :Bonjour, merci pour votre retour : il s'agit effectivement d'un confort tout à fait basique, l'essentiel dans ce paysage étant à l'extérieur, n'est-ce pas ? Nous indiquons sur la fiche qu'il n'y a pas de réseau à Boussac (signal GSM faible ; pas de wifi ni de tél) mais nous tâcherons de l'indiquer plus clairement.
