You will stay in the village of Veze at 1,030 meters above sea level, in a natural and rural setting, in the heart of Cézallier. The shops are 7 km away and all around you is simply nature. Clean air at the foot of the mountain and the wide open spaces of Cézallier are yours!
Detached house with garden in the heart of “little Auvergne Mongolia”

The Gîte de La forge des Estives is an independent house surrounded by a 600 m² garden. This rental, with a capacity of 6 people, is ideal for holidays with family or friends.

You will have an area of 90 m² spread over 2 levels. On the ground floor, different spaces are organized within the living room.


The kitchen has plenty of equipment (ceramic hob, refrigerator, oven, microwave, dishwasher, toaster, kettle, 2 coffee machines) to prepare your meals “just like at home”. Open to the lounge area, it benefits from beautiful natural light provided by the French window leading to the terrace.


In the living room, a space is dedicated to taking meals, a second is dedicated to relaxation. The sofa and armchairs invite you to read a book or watch TV in front of the wood stove.

When the first signs of coolness appear or during the winter period,

enjoy gathering around the warmth of the fire. To enhance your evenings, board games are provided. The care taken in the decoration, combining antique furniture and contemporary objects, creates a friendly atmosphere.

Upstairs, you will find the 3 bedrooms and the bathroom, equipped with two sinks and a shower. Two bedrooms have a single bed (160 cm) and storage cupboards. The third bedroom is furnished with 2 single beds (90 cm) and a wardrobe. On request, a baby kit is available free of charge.

When the fine weather arrives, you will appreciate the facilities and the tranquility of the garden. You will take your meals on the terrace, facing south, and judiciously positioned in the extension of the kitchen. Grilling enthusiasts will be busy around the barbecue. Young and old alike can indulge in a game of ping-pong or table football.

The enclosed garden is secured by an automatic gate with remote control. You have a separate entrance and can park your vehicle in a private car park. In addition, a dedicated room allows you to shelter your two wheels (bicycle or motorcycle) or to store your fishing equipment.

If you come during the winter period, comfort will always be there. The renovations carried out in 2020 have improved the insulation of the house. In addition to the wood stove, cast iron radiators with inertia (electric heating) ensure a pleasant and regular distribution of heat.

From the gîte de la Forge des estives you can stretch your legs to the Lac de la Sianne or to the waterfall of La Terrisse.

Travelers heading towards Le Cézallier are looking for peace and wide open spaces. On the borders of the departments of Cantal, Puy-de-Dôme and Haute-Loire, the Cézallier massif is a summer pasture land known for its vast grassy expanses. This territory with green landscapes is often nicknamed "Little Mongolia Auvergne" or "Little Scotland".

Hiking and horseback riding, mountain biking, trail running, fishing… Le Cézallier is a perfect destination for lovers of outdoor sports and nature. The vast meadows, lakes, waterfalls, forests and volcanic landscapes provide a varied playground for walking, running or cycling.

In the heart of the Auvergne Volcanoes Regional Nature Park, halfway between the Sancy massif to the north and the Cantal mountains to the south, there are countless hiking trails. At the bends of these marked paths, you will appreciate the beauty of the landscapes, the local fauna and flora.

If you are looking for breathtaking panoramas, head for the Grand Site de France Puy Mary - Volcan du Cantal. The ascent of Puy Mary is done by a trail from the Col du Pas de Peyrol. At 1787 meters, you will dominate the puys, domes and rocky spurs that make up the largest volcano in Europe.

Winter sports enthusiasts can indulge in skiing and other winter sports in the resorts of Prat-de-Bouc (44 km), Lioran (46 km), or Super Besse (56 km) .

The Cézallier space in Allanche is a good introduction to improve your knowledge of this territory: the summer pastures, the burons, the cheeses, the cloth merchants, the shaping of the landscapes, but also the water with its lakes, waterfalls, bogs.

Perched at an altitude of 1,100 meters, the village of Allanche has retained its mountain character. It is located just 8 km from your vacation rental. The summer pasture festival (end of May), the flea market (in August) or the potters' market (in July) are among the major events that punctuate the life of the city. Stroll on Tuesday morning in front of the stalls of the farmers' market and savor the country's cheeses and charcuterie.

The Grande Roche hike, suitable for mountain biking, is a 6.6 km loop. During this walk, you will benefit from a 360° view and observe the architectural specificities of Allanche such as its Roman bridge.

Departing from Allanche station and Landeyrat, you can board a Vélorail. This activity, accessible to the whole family, combines practice of pedaling and discovery of the landscape and heritage. 6 courses of 6 to 24 km round trip from the easiest to the most sporty are offered. Depending on the circuit chosen, you will discover the Cascade des Veyrines, the viaduct of Saint-Saturnin, the village of Lugarde or the cave of Cuze.

Heritage and history buffs will stop off at Murat, a medieval town classified as a Small City of Character ® (35 km) and Saint Flour, the only site labeled Pays d'art et d'histoire in Cantal (55 kilometres).

A stone's throw from Saint-Flour, the whole family will enjoy the Chaudes-Aigues spa resort. No less than 32 hot springs gush out there, including the Par spring, the hottest in Europe, which flows at 82°C!

In Riom-ès-Montagnes, 38 km from your vacation rental, take the time to visit the Avèze-Maison de la Gentiane area. Avèze is an aperitif, to be consumed in moderation, made from fresh gentian roots. The great yellow gentian is a mountain plant that you will certainly come across during your hikes.

Espace Avèze is the starting point of the Gentiane Express. This tourist train takes one of the most beautiful mountain railway lines in France, now a century old. Landscapes of mountain pastures, Barajol viaduct, herds of Salers cows, panoramas of the Sancy and Cantal mountains, this rail ride has some great surprises in store for you!

In August, Riom-ès-Montagnes celebrates Bleu d'Auvergne, 1 of the 5 AOP cheeses from Auvergne. This festival is an opportunity to honor the players in this sector, the territory and the grasslands that feed the animals.

You can continue your discovery of AOP cheeses from Auvergne by going to Salers, 80 km from your gîte. Salers owes its reputation both to its medieval heritage and to the riches of its terroir. Let yourself be seduced by the volcanic stone and the slate roofs of this charming village classified among “The Most Beautiful Villages of France”.
