Plainfaing (altitude 530m to 1306 m) lies at the foot of the Col du Bonhomme, close to the 3 main ski resorts (Gérardmer La Bresse Le Lac Blanc), the Route des Crêtes and the Col de la Schlucht, allowing you to follow the tourist trails at the gateway to Alsace, the Route des Vins and its remarkable sites: Colmar, Kaysersberg Ribeauvillé, Riquewihr and Le Haut Koenigsbourg. The Hohneck and the Ballon d'Alsace.
All year round: a wide range of hiking, mountain biking and horse-riding activities are on offer, with over 120km of waymarked footpaths and a 12km greenway (on foot or by bike).
Plainfaing is also home to: the Hautes Vosges confectionery (200,000 visitors/year), local produce (cheeses, organic bread, traditional charcuterie, honey, liqueurs, etc.). Tourist reception at the Town Hall, with tasting of local produce, every Monday in July and August. Events and craft markets in summer. A dynamic area offering a multitude of local tourist and sporting activities. Family theme parks / Aquatic centre and SPA nearby.
Free on request; Hiking organised and accompanied by the owner around the rental property over 1/2 day (morning or afternoon). Signposted routes of 5 to 10 km. discovery of viewpoints over the valley / undulating paths / view of animals in the meadows of the Vosges hillsides. Accessible, signposted routes through beautiful mountain scenery.
