Spacious guest room in a character house
As soon as you arrive at the Maison de Massigoux, you will be immersed in a warm and friendly atmosphere. This large building is an old 18th century farmhouse tastefully renovated and enhanced.
In the dining room, the cantou (large Auvergne fireplace) and the souillarde (former “kitchen”) have been preserved. These elements of the original architecture and the rustic furniture underline the country style of the place. You will have your breakfasts and dinners in this living room which exudes an authentic and warm atmosphere, one where you feel good right away.
In fine weather, breakfast will be served in the peaceful, green setting of the garden. Back home after a walk, you will appreciate this haven of peace for your relaxing breaks in the deckchairs.
The Puy Griou bed and breakfast owes its name to a mountain in Cantal recognizable by its majestic dome. Located on the 1st floor, away from the other bedrooms, this 45 m² suite will provide you with the privacy you need for your stay as a couple or as a family.
You will be charmed by the fireplace and the old parquet floor of this room which can comfortably accommodate up to 4 people. It is furnished with 3 beds: 1 King size canopy bed and 2 single beds, on request a baby kit is provided. It has a pretty bathroom with retro decor with shower, washbasin and private toilet.
From the small lounge area, you will appreciate the view of the garden, the surrounding countryside and the town below.
The room has free Wi-Fi access.
The room rate varies according to the number of occupants.
The house offers, on the second floor, 4 other guest rooms.
In the evening, upon reservation, you can dine at Laurence's table. She will delight you with dishes prepared from tasty local products, some of which come from organic farming.
Laurence is a native of the Jordanne Valley. She will share with you her good addresses or even interesting places off the beaten track.
A holiday to recharge your batteries in the heart of nature
Cantal is a paradise for nature lovers: volcanoes, mountains, grandiose panoramas, lakes, rivers... The landscapes have been shaped by volcanic activity and constitute a beautiful playground for hikers, cyclists and mountain bikers.
At the top of the Plomb du Cantal, the highest point in the department at 1,855 meters above sea level, you will be amazed by the exceptional panorama of the peaks of the Massif Central: Puy Griou, Puy Mary (Grand Site de France), Puy de Sancy. You can then reach the Super Lioran resort which offers outdoor activities in all seasons.
To cool off on a summer day, you will take the discovery trail of the Gorges de la Jordanne, 2 km laid out in a preserved natural setting. Fishing, motor boats, pedal boats, canoes, paddles: the shores of Lake Saint-Etienne-Cantalès are ideal for many activities. Not to mention swimming and lazing on the sand: and yes, you can even go to the beach!
Do you want to fly in the air? In a hot air balloon, paraglider, ULM or aboard an airplane, seen from the sky, the wonderful landscapes of Cantal take on a whole new dimension. And why not a wild flight, in a microlight or hot air balloon, among geese and cranes? To live this unforgettable experience, meet at Coltines Saint-Flour aerodrome.
Holidays under the sign of culture and heritage
La Maison de Massigoux is perched on the heights of Aurillac. The city is backed by the Cantal mountains and crossed by the Jordanne. Its shady banks, its square, its mansions, its century-old shops, the Saint-Géraud Abbey, the Saint-Etienne castle... Count on a good day to discover the attractions of the Cantal prefecture, which is also the French umbrella capital!
The Museum of Art and Archeology and the Museum of Volcanoes can complete the visit to the city center. At the end of August, alongside many spectators, you will settle in the public spaces of the city to attend the Street Theater Festival.
All around, beautiful villages will delight heritage enthusiasts. 25 km from your accommodation, wander the narrow streets of Marcolès, a medieval fortified town dating back to the 12th century. You can continue your journey in the Natural Park Volcanoes of Auvergne. About forty kilometers from your rental, a visit to Salers, famous for its cheese and its cow, will transport you to the Middle Ages and then to the Renaissance period.
In Cantal, the castles are part of the heritage in the same way as the volcanoes! From your vacation rental, you can easily get to the Château de Conros (Arpajon-sur-Cère 6 km away), the Château du Pesteil (Polminhac 15 km away) and the Château d'Anjony (Tournemire 23 km away).
