The house in which the gîte des 4 saisons has moved was once the presbytery of the village of Le Claux. Completely renovated in 2023, it can accommodate up to 9 people. A great address to meet up with family or friends in the heart of the Regional Natural Park of the Volcanoes of Auvergne.

Nestled at 1,050 meters above sea level, at the foot of Puy Mary, the village of Claux offers many opportunities for outdoor activities. Put on your sneakers and hiking shoes!

A former presbytery transformed into a charming gîte in the village of Le Claux

Comfortable and bright rooms, quality equipment, neat decoration where contemporary and traditional materials intermingle. The renovation of this robust stone house has made it possible to enhance the existing heritage while modernizing it.

This vacation rental has an area of 135 m² spread over 3 levels. The open-plan ground floor has been transformed into a large common living room. Exposed stone walls and beams on the ceiling, the specificities of the building are highlighted.

On one side, a fitted and well-equipped kitchen with hob, oven, refrigerator, dishwasher... In its extension, a large table to meet all together at mealtimes.

On the other side, the living room is organized around the cantou. The beautiful stone fireplace, crowned with a beam, now houses a wood-burning stove. Sofa, armchairs and coffee table face it.

A laundry room, with washing machine, and independent toilets complete the layout of the ground floor.

On the 1st floor are 2 large bedrooms and a bathroom. Each room has a large cozy bed (160 cm). In one of the bedrooms, the fireplace decorates the room, in the other it is a wallpaper that provides the wall decoration. A large walk-in shower and a piece of furniture, with a double sink, equip the bathroom. The toilets are independent.

On the second floor, an attic bedroom is furnished like a dormitory with 4 single beds (90 cm) and a convertible sofa which provides the ninth bed. The bathroom, functional and contemporary, consists of a large walk-in shower and a vanity unit with a large mirror.

In the garden, you can enjoy the tranquility of the place to share convivial moments around the barbecue. If you come with bicycles, a closed room will be made available to you.

Discover the region. At the Maison de Site du Claux, you can take advantage of advice and information on the region and visit the space dedicated to exhibitions. The Maison de Site du Claux welcomes within its walls the Maison de la Montagne.

Participate in a treasure hunt. Do you know geocaching? It's a kind of modern-day treasure hunt. A geocaching course “Le Claux’ caching” will allow you, in 8 stages, to discover the treasures of the town while having fun. A family activity.

Walk in the Petite Rhue valley. In the superb glacial valley of the Petite Rhue, Le Claux offers many opportunities for hiking. From the village, 3 short hiking trails are marked, other trails are nearby. The Pays de Gentiane tourist office offers 6 circuits to discover the valley with the family.

Observe nature and animals (birds, marmots, etc.). Le Claux has remarkable natural areas with a rich biodiversity. The sites of Bois Mary, Bois de la Bragouse, the north of the Plateau du Limon… or the Puy Mary are natural sanctuaries that should be respected.

Tour the great outdoors. The most seasoned walkers will follow the red and white markings of the GR® 4 and 400 which pass through the village. A day of hiking is enough to go around the Claux valley on the GR® 400.
The trail runs along the Puy de la Tourte ridge, passing by the Suc de la Blatte and the Lascourt pond. A loop of 22 km all the same!

Climb to the top of Puy Mary. This ascent on foot is done from the Col du Pas de Peyrol. A path provides access on foot, about 40 minutes. Le Puy Mary, classified as a Grand Site de France, culminates at 1,783 meters. Once you reach its summit, you will not be disappointed by the panoramic view of the Cantal volcano.

Get on his bike. Fan of climbing, you can take up the challenge of climbing the Pas de Peyrol pass: a mythical ascent to Puy Mary and an unforgettable sporting experience. You can follow the “RBX Boucle Volcan Cantal” route developed by cycling champion Romain Bardet.

Hit the slopes on a mountain bike. You can either follow the 2 marked circuits starting from the village of Claux, or prepare your own routes. If you have never practiced mountain biking, you can rent electric mountain bikes. An original way to apprehend the reliefs of the surroundings of the village.

Fly a paraglider. In the village of Le Claux, you can learn paragliding or let yourself be tempted by a tandem flight. You will be able to fly at the foot of the sites of Chabraire, Puy Mary, Puy de la Tourte, which are among the most beautiful in the Massif Central!

Climb the Puy de la Tourte. Near Le Claux, you will find 3 climbing sites that will allow you to appreciate the beautiful scenery of the Cantal mountains from another angle. To access Puy de la Tourte and Roche des Chamois, take the GR 400 at Pas de Peyrol. The Roc d'Hozières is accessible from the D 680.

Skiing at the Col de Serre. In winter, the Nordic Zone of Haut Cantal Puy Mary offers the practice of many Nordic activities. From the Col de Serre, at an altitude of 1,309 metres: 28 km of cross-country ski trails and 15 km of snowshoe trails are marked.

Take a dog sled ride. All year round, the Nordic area of Lascourt-Le Claux offers several activities. Baptism in sled dogs in winter or in cani-kart in summer: unforgettable experiences to live with the family, in contact with animals.

Tease the stud. You can practice trout fishing at Claux, in Petite Rhue, or at Lac des Cascades (5 km). Fly fishing at Lac de Roussillou and coarse fishing at Lac des Bondes, 20 km from the village at Riom-es-Montagne.

Board the Gentiane express at Riom-es-Montagne. This tourist train will take you to Lugarde station through magnificent landscapes. A relaxing and fun family rail ride.

Stroll through the medieval streets of Murat. Fancy a heritage getaway? Murat, classified as a Small City of Character, has a beautiful town center where it is good to walk. The historic center is made up of medieval and Renaissance houses built in volcanic apparatus with remarkable slate roofs.
