Discover this medieval town at the mouth of the Baie de Somme! The bay, the narrow flower-filled streets, the marina and fishing port, and the pretty seawall lined with villas make the upper town a must-see destination. Look for your B&B among the Clévacances-labelled addresses.
Book a bed and breakfast on the clevacances.com website and discover the remarkable medieval town of Saint-Valery-sur-Somme in the heart of the Baie de Somme during your stay. From the heights, the view is breathtaking over the Baie de Somme. Below, the colourful houses of the fishermen's quarter and the marina will enchant you during your stay. Its market, held every Sunday morning, is one of the most famous in the area! Nestling within the ramparts is a charming garden that cultivates medicinal, dyeing and medieval plants... This is the former garden of the hospital nuns. The flint and pebble walls make for a colourful, bucolic stroll. Some of the region's chefs come here to stock up on flowers and edible plants for an original and unusual cuisine! Rent a bed and breakfast to visit Saint-Valery-sur-Somme, which came 2nd in the 2017 edition of the Most Beautiful Village in France competition hosted by Stéphane Berne on France 2!
The town can be discovered on foot along the seafront. We recommend a stroll starting from the marina and the fishermen's quarter, with its colourful houses. At the end of the jetty, you can enjoy a drink at the Buvette de la plage and take in the gentle scenery with the beach huts and bay in front of you. You'll find yourself in front of a real living postcard. You can also visit other nearby beaches such as the Hourdel beach at Cayeux-sur-Mer and the Le Crotoy.
Book one of the Clévacances guest rooms and also discover the narrow streets of the upper town with its charming colourful houses, old stonework and the famous hollyhocks that bloom in the alleyways! Saint-Valery-sur-Somme is also the starting point for a guided trip across the bay to Le Crotoy. You can also explore the Bay by bike, thanks to the many cycle paths. The Chemin de Fer de la Baie de Somme with its authentic little steam train takes you to Crotoy or to Cayeux-sur-Mer for a journey between land and sea! Away from the heart of the town, boat trips to discover the Baie de Somme and perhaps spot the seals of the Baie de Somme are also available close to your B&B.
The resort of Crotoy is located to the north of the Baie de Somme. During your stay you can admire the old fishing port and, a little further north, the Parc ornithologique du Marquenterre. To the south, the Pointe du Hourdel is ideal for a stroll and for spotting the seal colony with binoculars.
Book a bed and breakfast and discover the Maison de la Baie de Somme in Lanchères. This house offers an immersive, fun tour to find out all about the Baie de Somme.
