Veules-les-Roses: it's here, from our charming house, that you'll discover one of the most beautiful villages in Normandy. Follow the Veules, France's smallest river, from its source to the watercress beds, past the thatched cottages, on to the Champs Elysées and its old mills, before passing through the heart of the village to empty into the English Channel. On Wednesday mornings, do your shopping at the market. Do you like unusual places? Then don't miss the staircase at Sotteville sur Mer, a village perched 60m above the cliffs, with 231 steps down to the sea, just 5 minutes from our Normandy home. Enter the heart of the verdant Pays de Caux, and discover the Au fil des Saisons farm in Amfreville-les-Champs and the history of flax, Doudeville and its flax crossroads, push open the gates of the Château du Mesnil-Geoffroy and its superb rose garden in Ermenouville, Continue on to St Valery-en-Caux and its port, then the Durdent valley with its market gardeners and mills, visit the Cany Barville market on Monday mornings, have lunch on the sea wall at Veulettes-sur-Mer, facing the sea, before taking a stroll along the longest beach in Seine-Maritime. If you fancy a bit of action, the Lac de Caniel and its various activities await you...__ Varengeville-sur-Mer __: 18 km from our accommodation. This village with its superb houses and villas is well worth taking the time to discover. If you like hiking, you will be delighted along the Côte d'Albâtre. The church of Saint-Valery, overlooking the sea and surrounded by its marine cemetery, will take your breath away. You'll see the tombs of Georges Braque and Albert Roussel... For garden lovers, __le Bois des Moutiers __with its gardens and park will enchant you with its very special atmosphere, its mixed-border gardens, its white garden, its rose garden and its impressive park, depending on the season, with azaleas, rhododendrons, Japanese maples, roses, hydrangeas... At the Vastérival garden, Princess Greta Sturdza has transformed 12 hectares of coppice into magical undergrowth, where the shapes, colours and fragrances of more than 10,000 species and varieties, skilfully combined, create a paradise that enchants visitors all year round. Its team continues its work with passion. __ The Shamrock or Hydrangea Garden __ The collection covers two hectares and includes 2,000 plants, including 1,200 different varieties (species, subspecies and cultivars) grown naturally and selected over more than a century by horticulturists. It has been assembled by Corinne Mallet since 1984. Some of the plants in this collection are unique in the Western world. Most of them come from Japan, the birthplace of a large number of hydrangea species. __ At the Musée Michel Ciry, you can discover the artist's personal collection of paintings, watercolours, drawings and engravings. _ Finally, the __Manoir d'Ango__. The former summer palace of Jehan Ango, a wealthy shipowner and patron of the arts, the Manoir d'Ango is a unique monument, with its exceptional Italian Renaissance architecture, its dovecote - said to be the finest in France - its site and its park. Dieppe: 30 minutes from our house in Normandy, welcomes you. Its historic centre with the churches of St Jacques and St Rémi, its turrets, the rebuilt St Catherine quarter..., the Grande Rue with its shops, its port, the château museum overlooking the town and displaying a superb collection of carved ivory objects... _
