Welcome to l'Océanite, my gîte 1km from Plouharnel, a small village situated between Carnac (with its megalithic site and fine sandy beaches) and Quiberon Quiberon (its wild coastline, surf spots and cycle paths), on the SEA side between the gentle Bay of Quiberon and the wide beaches of the Atlantic Ocean. I'm offering you the chance to spend a few days in the peace and quiet of a bright, new duplex apartment adjoining my house. Access is via your own terrace. The ground floor comprises an open-plan, fully-equipped kitchen (coffee maker, kettle, toaster, fridge/freezer, induction hob, oven/microwave, etc.), a bathroom (shower, wc, towel rail), a dining area and a small west-facing lounge, which is very pleasant at the end of the day. Upstairs, a comfortable staircase leads to the mezzanine bedroom. The room is spacious and bright. Early in the morning, you'll enjoy the rays of the rising sun, and at dusk, the glowing sunsets to the west. The room is not overlooked and has blackout curtains. The bedroom sleeps 3, with either 3 80cm beds or 1 80cm bed + 1 160cm bed. Sheets and towels are provided and the beds are made. There's a relaxing area upstairs where you can enjoy the uninterrupted view over the countryside and a hint of the ocean on the horizon. You might spot a herd of peaceful cows in a meadow. They are the residents of a small, discreet dairy farm nearby. As for the garden, you have to give it time... I'm thinking about the layout. I'll be opting for a natural, controlled garden! At the moment, it's rather 'wild' ;) Important detail: this year I won't be able to offer you a washing machine, but there is a self-service launderette in the Super U car park, 1km from the gîte. Cleaning package available (€30). Accommodation not accessible for disabled people. Here in Plouharnel, you'll be at a central point for exploring the surrounding area. Carnac 3km, its beaches, megalithic sites and museums, yacht club, thalasso, casino and cinema. La Trinité-sur-Mer 6km, with its marina, regattas, working salt works... Quiberon 15km, pier for the islands (Belle Ile, Houat, Hoëdic), wild coastline, surf spots, thalassotherapy, casino, cinema... The islands of Belle-Ile-en-Mer, Houat and Hoëdic board at Quiberon. To the north, Auray, 15km away, with its busy town centre, Monday market day, the charming port of Saint Goustan and its restaurants... Further west, Lorient 45mn, its ports (pier for the island of Groix), its interceltic festival... Further east, Vannes 30 mins, its ramparts and historic centre... The Gulf of Morbihan. During the summer season, Plouharnel station is in operation. It is served by the "Tire-Bouchon" train on the Auray - Quiberon line. Ideal for getting to Quiberon to avoid the heavy road traffic, it serves the ocean beaches, "les sables blancs" on the bay side, the "Penthièvre" isthmus, Kerhostin, Saint-Pierre-Quiberon and Quiberon terminus. Bike/train possible.
