The advantages of the accommodation
Description
A favourite destination for hikers, the hamlet of Récusset is part of the commune of Saint-Paul-de-Salers. It is here, at an altitude of 1,100 metres, in the heart of a wide valley carved out by glaciers, that Le Relais des Volcans is nestled. Le Relais des Volcans comprises 10 independent chalets and an inn. Facing the Puy Violent, one of the Cantal mountains, this exceptional site is an invitation to contemplate. Would you like an authentic holiday in an unspoilt natural setting? GÎTE, BETWEEN SALERS AND PUY MARY, WITH A BREATHTAKING VIEW OF THE ANCIENT CANTAL VOLCANO The Relais des Volcans chalets are self-contained and sleep 5. Each chalet has a living room with kitchenette, a shower room and two bedrooms. The two bedrooms (one with a double bed and the other on the mezzanine with three single beds) are ideal for a couple with children. If you are travelling with a young child, a cot is available on request. There is free Wi-Fi access in the restaurant, as well as a professional washing machine and tumble dryer. Access is not free, but the owner will take care of your laundry. In fine weather, you can enjoy the peace and quiet and the view over the valley from your private terrace. You are welcome to bring your pet on holiday. Le Relais des Volcans welcomes you for a night, a weekend, a week or a longer stay. You can rent the 10 gîtes to organise a company seminar or sports event. During your stay, you can have lunch or dinner at the Relais des Volcans inn. This is the perfect opportunity to get your feet under the table and sample Auvergne specialities (truffade, patranque, pounti, etc.) while gazing at the Puy Violent! WALKS FOR ALL LEVELS STARTING FROM YOUR GÎTE During your stay at Récusset, you'll be in the heart of a sensitive natural area. Flora, fauna, geology, typical volcanic scenery, a valley carved out by glaciers - you'll have the chance to observe an exceptional natural heritage. The site's ecological riches have been preserved and enhanced for the enjoyment of young and old alike. Two moderate-level interpretation trails have been set up for family walks. The "Sentier du Petit Pâtre" (Little Shepherd Trail) (4.5 km) takes up the theme of pastoralism and illustrates the life of the buronniers of yesteryear. Silhouettes of herdsmen line the route. "Sur les pentes du pré dansant" (5 km) guides you through the biodiversity of the Récusset cirque. Five photographic black boxes punctuate the trail. Good walkers will reach the summit of Puy Violent at an altitude of 1,594 m. From Récusset, this hike takes around 5 hours round trip (ascent 550 m). The ascent of this small pyramid-shaped cone offers a magnificent panorama of the Labro rock, Puy Mary, the Ombres rock and, on a clear day, the Sancy massif. More experienced hikers can continue their journey into the heart of Europe's largest volcano by following the emblematic GR®400. EXPERIENCES FOR FAMILIES AND FRIENDS If you're looking for a fun and sporting activity, head for the Onirika leisure park at Le Falgoux. Accrobranche, arbofilets, explor'games, educational trails or mountain bike hire: whether you want to get high or keep your feet on the ground, there's sure to be an activity to suit you. All around your gîte, charming villages such as Salers and Tournemire, classified as among the Most Beautiful Villages in France, invite you to spend a holiday. In Salers, the former bailiwick of Auvergne, the narrow streets are steeped in history. Explore the medieval town and admire the turreted houses and Renaissance-style town houses. From the esplanade de Barrouze, you can enjoy a magnificent view of the Maronne, Rat and Aspre valleys. And of course, you won't be able to resist the temptation of the town's gourmet delights. At Tournemire, in the verdant Doire valley, the imposing Château d'Anjony welcomes you. Built in the 15th century, it comprises four towers enclosing a square keep. During your visit, you'll learn that the house has been inhabited by the same family since the beginning! Nearby, you'll be charmed by the slate-roofed houses of the village of Tournemire.
