The advantages of the accommodation
Description
Priory is our largest gite and is the oldest building in the village. It can sleep up to 6 people in its 3 bedrooms, has 2 bathrooms and additional cloakroom and is a dog-friendly cottage. Priory dates from 1640 and is in a very typical style for the region. Originally a weavers property (who required lots of space) it has had many uses in its nearly 400 year hundred year history but has now been converted into an amazing holiday cottage with oodles of charm and character. Built in, what would have been locally quarried, slate the building has lots of large exposed beams with a double-height lounge and fabulous fireplace with wood burning stove. We have converted it to maintain, and add to, the character while giving it as many of the modern luxuries that you would want. The accommodation is spread over 3 floors. The main entrance on the ground floor leads into the large farmhouse-style kitchen with all the facilities required for the perfect self-catering holiday. A large gas hob and double oven; microwave; large fridge freezer; kettle, toaster; coffee machine; dishwasher and washing machine. There is a communal tumble drier available in the boot room. There is a cloakroom off the kitchen with toilet and hand basin. From the kitchen you can access the garden and private terrace with wooden garden furniture, sun loungers and BBQ. Also leading off the kitchen are stairs to the first floor and a door into the living room. The living room is the heart of the property and features a large feature fireplace and woodburning stove. The living room is furnished with leather chesterfield sofas to give it a ‘hunting lodge’ ambience and has an additional dining table and chairs. It is the perfect place to relax, watch TV or a DVD. You can enjoy music on the provided Bluetooth enabled stereo. An ancient stone spiral staircase leads to the mezzanine level however, we recommend using the stairs in the kitchen to reach the first floor. On the first floor is a mezzanine bedroom with sumptuous king-sized four-poster bed and separate dressing area. A second bedroom with king-sized bed and en-suite toilet and shower room; and the family bathroom with toilet, sink, bath and over-bath shower. On the second floor is an additional twin bedroom. A cot can be set up in any of the bedrooms or on the mezzanine level upon request. Priory has a large private terrace behind the property with wooden garden furniture. A sun parasol and a large BBQ are also provided. Luxury sun loungers with cushions for all guests make for a perfect lazy summer’s day. We also provide all our guests with additional towels for use on the loungers or to take to the beach. Once you have unloaded the car in front of the holiday cottage, parking is provided in the garage. The terrace in front of the cottage can be used for breakfast on a sunny morning. All of our guests at Kergudon can use the communal facilities which include a boot room (to borrow wellingtons for walking in the forest) with washing machine and tumble dryer; a fitness suite (one of the owners is a fully-qualified Personal Trainer so they can put you through your paces when you’re with us or draw up a personal exercise plan); mountain bikes to borrow to explore the area; petanque pitch and large family games room with a pool table, babyfoot and bar. The games room has a projector so can be used as a cinema and reserved for a family film night. Dog Friendly Holiday Cottage Brittany Priory is one of our two dog-friendly gîtes, Hayloft being the other. We will provide some dog towels, water bowl and sofa throws, if your dog likes to snuggle up on the sofa. We can arrange for your vet visit before you leave Kergudon if you are traveling straight back to the UK as it is mandatory to have a check-up, worming tablet and pet passport stamp. Whilst we do not make an additional charge for dogs staying at Kergudon we do take a larger damage deposit of 350 EUR.
