Atypical and unusual house in the heart of nature. This house is respectful of nature, eco-responsible and committed to strong environmental values. Located in southern Aveyron, in the Grands Causses Regional Nature Park, at the foot of the Larzac plateau, Maison de Vignes nestles in the heart of the Brias cirque at Tournemire. The site is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and Natura 2000! This small community house was entrusted to the care of our association in 2016 to give it a new lease of life. With the help of a great team of volunteers and a few hard workers, we transformed it into an atypical reception area overlooking the valley and the village below. Travellers in search of authenticity, welcome! Here, everything is conducive to letting go and disconnecting: the river flows gently below (cool - 12 degrees on average). The hazelnut trees provide lovely shade and the fruit trees are perfect for an invigorating siesta. A table and pallet furniture are available for picnics and a campfire when the sun goes down. And at night? Surrounded by the Tournemire cirque, the Maison de Vignes offers an incredible view of the stars, without any light pollution. You'll feel like you're in the middle of nowhere. And yet you are! You'll find a grocery shop, bakery and even a restaurant in the village (Tournemire) 800 m from the Maison de Vignes. Lovers of hiking and wide open spaces will be delighted to walk along the many footpaths and footpaths that criss-cross the cirque and plateau of Larzac. Throughout the year, the scenery offers a whole host of new surprises. Whether you're with friends, family or loved ones, come and take a breath of fresh air at the Maison de Vignes. Every room in the house is laid out so that you always have a view of the great cliffs that line the Cirque! The living room and kitchen: On the ground floor, near the window, a small fireplace revives even the coolest evenings and a wood-burning stove ensures a cosy feel. The kitchen comes complete with fridge, oven, gas cooker and cooking utensils, so you can be sure of preparing some excellent dishes to enjoy with friends on the large dining table! Dormitory cabins: To get to the sleeping area, you have to go outside! Above the 'kitchen' area, you'll find the mezzanine with a cosy area that can also be used as an extra bed, a shower room with shower and washbasin, and the two dormitory cabins with bunk beds. Sanitary facilities: - In winter, you can take a quick shower in the indoor shower room. - In summer, an outdoor shower area lets you wash up using your solar shower bag, while looking out over the landscape and its breathtaking view of the cliffs! Tadao Ando used to say that this is one of the most beautiful ways to feel you exist. - The dry toilets are in a shed next to the house. You'll have to step outside for a second to access it, as we like the fresh air at night ;-) Toilet, washbasin, everything is there! What are dry toilets? An ecological toilet system that doesn't waste water or pollute sensitive natural areas. They look just like conventional toilets, except that your needs land directly in a large bucket. To avoid unpleasant odours, sawdust must be used as a cover. All you have to do is put a little on top and you're done! Once the bucket is full, you'll need to empty it. Mother Nature will turn it into compost. In the same way, your pets are welcome, but you must make sure you respect the area and clean up after them! Please note: there are several footpaths around the Maison de Vignes, so you may come across hikers with their dogs, curious onlookers from the village or walkers...
