1. Discover the city with a passionate guide
Read Aix as an open book, do not miss its attractions, discover its hidden scenery, be passionate about its prestigious past, its architecture, its heritage, its monuments, enter the mansions, savor amazing anecdotes, walk on the No Cézanne ... This is what our guide-guides approved by the Ministry of Culture and Communication and our street storytellers offer.
2. To move in the places impregnated with Cezanne
Push the door of the studio of Cézanne and enter the intimacy of the artist. Discover the house that saw him become a painter exploring the garden and the family Bastide Jas de Bouffan (closed for works until 2019). Admire some of his works in the space dedicated to him at the Granet Museum. At the quarries of Bibémus, let the eye of Cézanne act on yours facing Ste-Victoire.
3. Discover a new Art Center in a jewel of the 18th century
In the heart of Mazarin, Hotel de Caumont Center d'Art invites you to immerse yourself in the intimate atmosphere of a mansion. A sober and elegant exterior decoration, richly decorated interior, the former Hôtel de Caumont has undergone a major restoration program to restore its splendor of yesteryear. This exceptional site will offer two temporary exhibitions each year dedicated to the great names of art. There is also a tea room, a lounge bar, and a nice bookshop.
4. See otherwise at the Vasarely Foundation
Immerse yourself in the fascinating universe of optical art in the heart of the lumino-kinetic building imagined by Victor Vasarely. Classified as a historical monument, this architectural center of Aix-en-Provence consists of sixteen hexagonal-based modules, nested in a gigantic construction set, which present 44 monumental architectural integrations.
5. Le Calisson: let yourself be tempted
Mixed almonds and melons with the scent of orange blossom, the calisson is a concentrate of sun all by itself. It is THE great specialty of Aix-en-Provence.
Push the door of a confectionery or a craft factory and discover the inimitable taste of this delicacy.
Feel free / Think of the greedy! Like all the specialties of the Pays d'Aix, calissons are on sale at the Tourist Office's "Comptoir du Pays d'Aix" shop
Did you know ? Tradition has it that every year the calisson receives a blessing. To attend, meet on the first Sunday of September at the Church of Saint John of Malta.

6. Stroll through the old town
Aix-en-Provence is an invitation to travel in time.
In the light of a privileged climate, Aix-en-Provence reveals its elegance along streets and squares still lively.
History is here the scene of a daily newspaper where the pleasures of shopping and the nobility of the heritage, the happiness of a terrace and the architectural beauties, strolls in town and the baroque wonders marry. It is listed as the third baroque architecture in France, after Paris and Versailles.
Each fountain has its secrets, each private house its narratives. The bastides are dressed in parks and gardens as in the old ages.
For our city to reveal all its secrets, meet its history with one of our guide-speakers approved by the Ministry of Culture and Communication or one of our storytellers.
