Trust label, checked every 5 years

A tourism label can be a considerable asset in raising the profile and attractiveness of your accommodation, and help you stand out from the crowd of traditional tourism operators. Here's how!

If your ambition is to obtain a tourist label for your accommodation, you should know that this process does not present any particular difficulties if you know the procedure to follow. What's more, the label is a considerable asset for setting you apart from other tourism players in France, such as hotels.
However, would you like your rental property to gain in visibility over time, without spending a lot of money? You should know that if your house or flat is considered furnished for tourism purposes, it could be rented out more easily as soon as your next holiday. To do this, consider obtaining a tourist label, which brings you tax benefits and enhances your professionalism in the eyes of potential customers. The Clévacances label, created in 1995, is one of the alternative labels available for holiday rentals, and its rating is based on a key system. You can apply online by filling in this form.
This rental label can only be awarded to owners of a structure for the exclusive use of holidaymakers, who are signatories to the Clévacances National Charter. As the owner of a tourist accommodation, you are obliged to comply with certain specifications laid down by Clévacances. The criteria cover comfort and decoration, but also the interior and exterior layout of the accommodation, as well as the welcome you provide.
Labelling is conditional on a favourable opinion during the visit to the accommodation. Of course, you are suitably prepared for this stage, in particular by sending documentation, and can adapt your accommodation accordingly, if necessary. This may involve adding facilities for people with disabilities, or implementing measures to make your accommodation eco-responsible and sustainable, among other things. There is also an entrance fee and an annual subscription, the amount of which varies according to the type of accommodation (furnished or single room). Only a revisit every 5 years is required to retain this tourism label once it has been acquired.
Eligible for the label are houses, chalets, self-catering cottages, furnished tourist accommodation, holiday residences, flats, guest rooms - in short, all types of tourist accommodation. Like furnished tourist accommodation rated from 1 to 5 stars, Clévacances-labelled accommodation is awarded from 1 to 5 keys, a form of rating that expresses the level of service offered.
As a B&B owner, it's crucial to ensure that guests have a quality experience, in order to encourage future bookings and maintain a good online reputation. The tourist quality label is official recognition of the owner's commitment to quality, safety and customer satisfaction. By obtaining a tourist quality label, you can set yourself apart from other local accommodation and reassure potential customers about the quality of your accommodation.
The Clévacances tourism quality label has advantages for both owners and holidaymakers from France and abroad. Firstly, it can help to increase booking rates and build loyalty among existing customers. It also guarantees that you will benefit from legal and tax assistance, and more generally from day-to-day support, to help you manage your gîte (in particular via seasonal rental management software made available) or other type of accommodation located in France. With the label, you'll have an optimised advert for your property on a popular tourist rental platform, with photos that will make it stand out in the eyes of holidaymakers - a marketing advantage and a guarantee of quality for people looking for a pied-à-terre for their next stay. For customers, key players in the tourism industry, it's even child's play to identify the rental of their dreams, based on their preferences in terms of environment (rural communes, seaside towns, ski resorts...) and accommodation (many rooms, accommodation that respects sustainable development, rental accessible for PRM...).
In short, obtaining a tourism quality label can bring many benefits to gîte owners. It can help increase booking rates, build customer loyalty, improve the management of your business, enhance your business reputation and improve online visibility.
