Corse du Sud
South Corsica is a spectacular setting, where the Mediterranean embraces breathtaking cliffs, fine sandy beaches and fragrant scrubland. Here, every road leads to an imposing panorama: secret coves, deep forests, wind-sculpted mountains and villages clinging to the hills. A sun-drenched region par excellence, it appeals to travellers in search of exceptional landscapes, authenticity and a gentle way of life.
Ajaccio, Napoleon's birthplace, charms with its Mediterranean atmosphere, majestic gulf, markets and golden beaches accessible from the centre.
More to the east, Porto-Vecchio blends elegant nightlife and natural paradise, surrounded by the iconic beaches of Palombaggia, Santa Giulia and Rondinara.
At the far south, Bonifacio impresses with its limestone cliffs, perched citadel and vibrant harbour. With its medieval alleyways and seaside walks, it is one of the most spectacular sites in the whole of the Mediterranean.
South Corsica is home to some unique natural treasures: the Aiguilles de Bavella, a cathedral of red rock, dominate a legendary hiking area. Rivers such as the Piscia di Gallu and the Cavu offer natural pools perfect for swimming.
The beaches, veritable natural masterpieces, reveal unreal shades of blue: Palombaggia, Rondinara, Santa Giulia, but also the less-frequented coves of the Gulf of Valinco or Campomoro.
The story in Bonifacio is that a shepherd managed to get his most agile goat across the strait with a single throw. The story is improbable... but the Bonifacians assure us that this is why the strait is called the "Bouches de Bonifacio"!
"South Corsica, it's the light that dances, the sea that breathes and the mountain that watches."
