WELCOME TO MILLAU FOR YOUR HOLIDAYS The Aveyron offers sublime landscapes and the peace and quiet so sought-after by so many holidaymakers. Come and discover this unspoilt environment and enjoy a truly rejuvenating stay surrounded by your loved ones. Look for your bed and breakfast in Millau among the many Clévacances-labelled offers.
Local lamb, cheeses, jams, fruit, vegetables, pastries...all the local produce is on display at Millau's weekly market on Place Foch. During the summer season, head to the Place Calvé for typical Aveyron dishes! To discover the flavours of the region, it's also a good idea to eat in one of the town's good restaurants. La Bergerie, Le Diapason and Campanile Millau are just three of the restaurants most popular with holidaymakers and locals alike. Would you like to know the names of the most emblematic dishes? Meat specialities feature prominently on bistro menus. Paired with a powerful red wine, the Pouteille delivers irresistible flavours! It's also hard not to fall for the aromas of Manoul, a recipe that can be enjoyed as a starter or main course in Millau and the surrounding area. Millau is not to be outdone when it comes to desserts. What a pleasure it is to devour a slice of Flaune, a sweet made with sheep's milk. There's also Fouace, an exquisite brioche traditionally served at Epiphany.
When we think of Millau, we immediately think of its famous Viaduct, contemplated every year by many tourists! More precisely, it's a cable-stayed bridge that links the Causse du Larzac and the Causse Rouge. Fortunately, this masterpiece of modern engineering is not the only thing to see in the town. The Musée de Millau also bears witness to the rich heritage of this destination, and more generally of the Grands Causses. Here you can admire superb pottery, fossils and a wide variety of paintings. In the heart of the town, it's also very pleasant to enter one of the workshops specialising in the manufacture of leather gloves. Finally, if hiking from Peyreleau or other villages doesn't pique your interest, head off to explore the fortified sites of the Templar and Hospitaller Larzac, which include La Couvertoirade and Saint-Jean-d'Alcas.
So you've seen all the places of interest in the commune? Other places are definitely worth a visit not far from your bed and breakfast in Millau! These include Notre Dame de Rodez Cathedral, a Gothic-style monument completed in the 16th century. On the outside, take a look at the rose window and then go inside the building. The stained glass windows are a real eye-catcher, as is the impressive organ with its Renaissance case.
The acrobatic course at Salles-Curan is one of the most popular activities for holidaymakers. If you and your children are looking for cultural enrichment, visit the Maison de l'Eau and its old mill in the commune of Saint-Jean-du-Bruel. You can also have a good time at Viala-du-Tarn in the Grands Causses Regional Nature Park, a site much frequented by migratory birds.
