The Var department enjoys an exceptional geographical location for tourism. It is one of the two departments making up the historic Côte d'Azur region. The Var is a highly attractive destination because it has so much to offer: the coast, with the Esterel Massif, the Saint-Tropez and Giens peninsulas; the hinterland, with the Gorges du Verdon and the Sainte-Baume Massif.

The Var department is the ideal place for a stay in a gîte or bed and breakfast. The Var coast offers a multitude of sites to discover, both natural and cultural.
Book a gîte on the clevacances.com website for your holidays in the Var. Your stay will be an opportunity to discover the Massif de l'Esterel and its distinctive rock: an incredible panorama of the Mediterranean awaits you at the summit of the Pic du Cap Roux. On the Saint-Tropez peninsula, after discovering the citadel, take on the 3 capes - Taillat, Lardier, Camarat - where turquoise waters await you. In Toulon, climb up to Mont Faron to admire the famous harbour and its unforgettable sunsets.
The Var department is also an opportunity to discover the Var hinterland, with Sillans-la-Cascade in particular, one of the most Instagrammable sites in the Var, as well as the Gorges du Verdon, one of the most impressive in France! From Aiguines, wander along this mythical road overlooking this Alpine river at over 600 metres at the Cirque de Vaumale.
The hinterland is also an opportunity to visit the Abbaye de Thoronet, a 12th-century architectural marvel, and iconic little villages of character such as Cotignac, Tourtour and Villecroze.
Rent a Clévacances gîte on the coast to discover the historic centre of Bormes-les-Mimosas. This historic centre will allow you to fill up on scents and stroll through its narrow streets. It's the starting point for the 130km Route du Mimosa, which runs all the way to Grasse.
Finally, during your stay with family or friends, discover the village of Le Castellet, famous for hosting the French Grand Prix every year.
For your stay in a gîte in the Var, there's something for everyone: sea and nature lovers, you're in for a treat!
Fans of hiking and cyclo-tourism will be able to survey the Massif de la Sainte-Baume or the famous coastal path nearby, at the level of the Embiez peninsula, but also the Massif des Maures. For lovers of unusual activities, try out "Longe-Côte", the new aquatic hiking activity, during your stay.
Farniente also has pride of place in the Var. Make the most of your holiday in a self-catering cottage on the coast to discover the department's many beaches, whether in Sanary-sur-Mer (plage Dorée) or Saint-Raphaël (plage d'Agay).
The Var is also a great place to relax.
When you're on holiday with family or friends in the Var, and more specifically in the Gorges du Verdon, you can try your hand at canyoning or paddle boarding on Lac de Sainte-Croix: refreshing water activities in the summer season!
The Var is also about wine tourism, with three destinations holding the "Vignobles et découvertes" label, giving you the opportunity to visit an estate or cellar in the company of producers, then finish off with a tasting of red or rosé wines, all in moderation!
Finally, for a family outing, rent a Clévacances gîte and set sail for a day on the Iles d'Or: Porquerolles and Port-Cros. True jewels of the Mediterranean, these islands are a must-see on the Var coast. Europe's first marine park is the Port-Cros National Park.
Porquerolles stands out with its typical village and heavenly coves, while Port-Cros is characterised more by its wild side: sheer cliffs and vast forested areas, the circuit around the island offers sublime panoramas.
