Discover Nevers and the surrounding area during your holiday in the Nièvre.

This human-sized town can be discovered on foot, as you make your way through a setting rich in its architectural and historical heritage. To make sure you don't miss a thing, book a bed and breakfast on the clevacances.com website and follow the blue thread that winds through Nevers, allowing you to contemplate the city's iconic landmarks such as the Ducal Palace, Saint-Cyr-Sainte-Julitte Cathedral, Saint-Etienne Church, the Croux Gate and the Gate of Paris. Want to take home a souvenir of your stay in the Nièvre? Nevers earthenware is famous the world over. Faience craftsmen perpetuate the tradition, but also modernise it. The whole history of this art is told at the Musée de la faïence et des beaux-arts. Nevers is also a sanctuary town, thanks to the presence of Sainte-Bernadette. The Espace Bernadette Soubirous, in the town centre, allows you to walk in the footsteps of the saint. There's also plenty to do in the way of nature, with the Loire bordering the town and providing the perfect setting for leisurely strolls on foot or by traditional boat. Just a few kilometres from the city and your B&B, admire the majestic spectacle of the marriage of the Loire and the Allier at the Bec d'Allier panorama.

Activities to do near your B&B in Nevers, Nièvre

From your B&B in a charming house in the city, explore Nevers by Bourgogne-Franche-Comté, city of art and history on the banks of the Loire. Here, the old stones tell you stories. A stroll through the historic centre will take you past the monuments for which Nevers is famous: the Ducal Palace, Saint-Cyr-Sainte-Julitte cathedral, Saint-Etienne church, Porte du Croux and Porte de Paris. You can also visit nearby châteaux such as Château du Marais and Château de la Vernée. Prefer to let yourself go? Opt for an original tour of the city aboard a touk-touk bicycle.

End your stay in the Nièvre with a visit to the faience and fine arts museum.

To recharge your batteries, sit down in one of the town's many restaurants or brasseries to sample the specialities of the Nivernais. The one that's a must here is the Négus, a chocolate bonbon wrapped in caramel, but also the Nougatine.

In the heart of the town, time stands still. Here you are in a restful place built in honour of Saint Bernadette, the Espace Bernadette Soubirous, where you can reflect and discover her story.

There's no question of leaving without taking home a souvenir of your stay in the town, and that will of course be the famous Nevers earthenware. The earthenware craftsmen open their workshops to you. You'll be able to choose between a traditional piece or one revisited for a more modern feel.

Nevers also showcases its natural side thanks to the presence of Europe's last wild river: the Loire below the city. Book one of the Clévacances guest rooms and explore the river on foot or by bike. However, we recommend a trip on a traditional boat, the gabarre, to get as close as possible to the flora and fauna, in peace and quiet.
