The owners have taken great care to select materials, linens and equipment that are made in France and environmentally friendly. The grounds include the château where they live, as well as outbuildings, including the gîte in which you will be staying. As you stroll past the flower-filled terraces, the lanes lined with century-old lime trees will lead you to the small family vegetable garden, then to the sloping pastures offering uninterrupted views of some of the neighbouring private residences. * A brief history : Domaine de la Gavolerie has been occupied since the 17th century by Camaldolese monks, who built living quarters and an abbey. The French Revolution sealed the fate of La Gavolerie once and for all: in 1793, the monastery buildings were demolished to make way for today's Château de La Gavolerie. Only the gîte and adjoining buildings remain from this period.

Go through the property gate and there is a car park where you can unload your bags and suitcases. The Eco-Gîte is just off the car park behind the shrubbery. The large door leads you into the living room-kitchen area, which is the main living area of your holiday!
