If you like shopping, the major towns are no more than an hour's drive away, and the Luberon (not always open to the public because of the possibility of fires) is a great place for hiking in the off-season. In Mérindol, tennis courts are available at 10 euros per hour and are 100 m from the Cavaou. There's also a city park, a football pitch and a pump track. But if you want to go further afield, the Camargue, the Verdon gorges, the Pont du Gard, the Calanques of Marseille and Cassis are all within easy reach, as are other villages such as Gordes and L'isle sur la Sorgue.
