Things to Do Around Dinan and the Rance Valley Ideally located in the charming riverside village of Léhon, just minutes from the medieval town of Dinan, the house is perfectly placed for exploring the beautiful Rance Valley and the stunning beaches of the Côte d’Émeraude. From Quai du Val, enjoy a beautiful walk or cycle ride along the towpath of the River Rance, one of the most scenic routes in the Rance Valley. This peaceful riverside path connects the charming village of Léhon to the historic port of Dinan, offering wonderful views of the valley, passing boats and surrounding countryside. Whether you prefer walking, jogging or cycling, the towpath is the perfect way to explore the area. The walk to Dinan Port takes around 25 minutes on foot. After exploring the picturesque streets of Léhon, you will cross the historic stone bridge built between the 15th and 16th centuries, located on the site of an ancient ford where the old road from Rennes to Corseul once crossed the River Rance. As you follow the Rance towpath towards Dinan, you’ll pass the gardens belonging to the grounds of Abbaye Saint-Magloire de Léhon, one of the village’s most historic landmarks. Continuing along the river, you will see Le Bourg district and the lock on the River Rance, where boats regularly pass through on their journey between Léhon and the port of Dinan. The riverside path continues through beautiful landscapes before revealing the impressive Dinan Viaduct, a spectacular landmark overlooking the valley. From here you arrive at the Port of Dinan, a lively area filled with restaurants, cafés, shops and water-sports activities. Just minutes away, Dinan is one of the best-preserved medieval towns in Brittany, famous for its ramparts, half-timbered houses and the picturesque Rue du Jerzual leading down to the harbour. Within easy reach is the beautiful Côte d’Émeraude (Emerald Coast), home to some of Brittany’s most attractive seaside resorts, including Lancieux and Saint-Briac-sur-Mer, both known for their sandy beaches, coastal walks and relaxed seaside atmosphere. The elegant seaside resort of Dinard is also nearby, famous for its Belle Époque villas, beautiful beaches and spectacular coastal promenade. The historic walled city of Saint-Malo is only 40 minutes away by car, with excellent restaurants, shops and stunning views over the sea. Around 45 minutes away, the vibrant Breton capital Rennes offers historic half-timbered houses, lively squares, markets, shopping and excellent restaurants. Another spectacular day trip is Fort La Latte, about 50 minutes from the house. This dramatic medieval fortress sits on the cliffs of the Emerald Coast, offering breathtaking views over the sea and surrounding coastline. The world-famous Mont-Saint-Michel is also within easy reach for an unforgettable day trip. Ideally located in the heart of the Rance Valley, the house is perfectly placed for exploring the historic town of Dinan, the beautiful villages of the river valley and the stunning beaches of the Emerald Coast. Whether you’re looking for coastal walks, medieval towns or relaxing days by the river, this area of Brittany offers something special in every season.

We’ve always loved French culture—but Brittany has a special kind of magic that stole our hearts. After exploring many corners of France, it was the wild beauty of the Côtes d’Armor—the dramatic coastline, rich history, and peaceful villages—that made us stay. For many years, we’ve been welcoming guests to our own gîte near Dinan. Along the way, we’ve also begun managing other beautiful holiday homes in the area—something we truly enjoy, as it lets us share even more of this region’s charm. Nothing makes us happier than helping guests discover Brittany’s magic—whether it’s a coastal walk, a hidden village, or simply slowing down to enjoy the peaceful rhythm of life here. We hope your stay leaves you as enchanted by this corner of France as we are.
