How about taking a stroll or cycle along the towpath next to the River Rance? There is nothing better than taking in the wonderful sights along the towpath which takes you directly into the beautiful port of Dinan. Walk, jog, cycle, the choice is yours! It takes approximately 25 minutes on foot. Once you have taken in all the charm that Lehon has to offer, you will pass over the old bridge which was constructed sometime between the fifteenth and sixteenth century, on the site of a ford that existed on the Rance and allowed the ancient Rennes-Corseul way to cross the river. Following the towpath towards Dinan, you will see a large garden which is part of the grounds of St. Magloire Abbey in Léhon. You will also catch sight of Le Bourg and the outdoor pool, before passing the lock which is still in continual use, particularly with pleasure boats that run from Dinan. The towpath winds around with the river, where you can take in some spectacular countryside. Before long, the spectacular Dinan viaduct will come into view, leading you to the port of Dinan, which is alive with restaurants, shops and water sports. Nearby are some of Brittany’s most beautiful beaches and seaside towns. These include Saint Cast le Guildo and Saint Lunaire. The stunning city of Saint Malo is a 40 minute drive from the house. Inside the impressive city walls are numerous shops and restaurants. A little further inland, 45 minutes away, is the capital city of Brittany, Rennes. Plenty of shopping and restaurants in the cobbled squares. Josselin, another medieval “petite cite de caractère” 1hour 20 minutes away is a charming town. The chateau overlooks the lovely Nantes-Brest canal where you can hire bikes or kayaks. Market day is Saturday and this bustling town is full of stalls selling local produce. Guided tours of the chateau in both French and English are available.

We’ve always loved French culture—but Brittany has a special kind of magic that stole our hearts. After exploring many corners of France, it was the wild beauty of the Côtes d’Armor—the dramatic coastline, rich history, and peaceful villages—that made us stay. For many years, we’ve been welcoming guests to our own gîte near Dinan. Along the way, we’ve also begun managing other beautiful holiday homes in the area—something we truly enjoy, as it lets us share even more of this region’s charm. Nothing makes us happier than helping guests discover Brittany’s magic—whether it’s a coastal walk, a hidden village, or simply slowing down to enjoy the peaceful rhythm of life here. We hope your stay leaves you as enchanted by this corner of France as we are.
