The advantages of the accommodation
Description
The Gîte du Couderc, in Saint-Paul-des-Landes, is a large stone house that has been completely renovated. The village, 12 km from Aurillac, has a wide range of shops and amenities. You'll be staying close to the Cantal's must-see tourist sites, in a charming setting for a holiday with family or friends. A BRIGHT, SPACIOUS HOLIDAY HOME IN SAINT-PAUL-DES-LANDES The Gîte du Couderc is a large family home, measuring 150 m², which can comfortably accommodate 6 people. Its recent renovation, carried out with great care, has created a place that is both functional and pleasant to live in. The large living room on the ground floor is organised around several areas. The sitting area, with sofa and TV, faces the imposing old stone fireplace. The wood-burning stove has been installed in this 'inglenook fireplace'. Logs are available if you fancy a moment by the fire. For a convivial meal, you can sit around the large farm table. The separate kitchen, opening onto the terrace, makes the most of the generous volume of the room it occupies. With all its storage space and equipment (hob, oven, fridge, dishwasher, etc.), you'll want to get cooking! It also has a dining area. A shower room with walk-in shower, separate toilet and access to the garage complete the ground floor. The upstairs is given over to sleeping areas and shower rooms. The large landing on the 1st floor can be used as a games room. Two large bedrooms, each with a double bed (140 cm), occupy this floor, as do separate wc facilities. The bathroom is very comfortable. It is spacious enough to accommodate a shower, bath and double washbasin unit. A large, more intimate bedroom with a 140 cm bed is located in the attic on the 2nd floor. If you come with a young child, a real cot and high chair will be provided. What could be better than to take advantage of the fine weather to enjoy your meals outside? Garden furniture, a barbecue and a large enclosed garden are provided for just this purpose. In the garage, you can store your bikes or motorbikes, sports equipment or fishing gear. There's also a sink and fridge, handy when you're back from fishing. Good to know / the rental is equipped with an Internet connection / pets are welcome /bed linen hire (€10 per person) / rental of bathroom linen (€10 per person) / cleaning service at the end of your stay (€60) WATER SPORTS AND OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES, BETWEEN LAKES AND THE CANTAL MOUNTAINS From your holiday rental, you'll have easy access to a wide range of outdoor activities. Whether you're a hiker, cyclist, fisherman, sportsman or all of the above, you'll find what you're looking for in the Cantal. The wooded and undulating surroundings of the Saint-Etienne-Cantalès lake offer visitors a privileged natural setting. For a break by the water, head for the beaches of Rénac, Espinet and Puech des Ouilhes. Here you can enjoy a wide range of water sports, starting with swimming. The largest artificial lake in the Auvergne is a renowned fishing spot. It is one of the cradles of vertical pike-perch fishing in France, and a haven for several species of carnivorous fish. Covering an area of 562 hectares, the Saint-Etienne-Cantalès lake has a varied shoreline and 4 boat launches. A few kilometres away is another even wilder reservoir. The wooded banks of Lac d'Enchanet are a paradise for pike-perch, pike, perch, carp, tench, whitefish and catfish anglers. To take a dip, one side of the lake has been developed on the Longayroux site. After the lakes, why not head to the banks of a river? The Jordanne gorges discovery trail takes you into the heart of a wild site. You'll pass from one bank to the other, along a wooden footbridge, an arched bridge and many other unusual structures! Have you heard of the Cantal mountains? Climbing Puy Mary - Grand Site de France, from the Pas de Peyrol pass, is sure to be one of the highlights of your holiday. A paradise for hikers, the Monts du Cantal are an extraordinary area of verdant natural landscapes. Nature lovers will love the local flora and fauna, and may even be lucky enough to spot a marmot or mouflon. Mountain bikers and cyclists will also find plenty to enjoy on the Cantal's winding tracks and roads. In summer and winter alike, the Super Lioran ski resort is the place to be. Depending on the season, you can enjoy snow sports (skiing, sledging, snowshoeing, etc.) or summer activities (mountain biking, hiking, etc.). Take the cable car or walk up to the Plomb du Cantal, the highest peak in the département at 1858 metres. DISCOVER THE CANTALIEN HERITAGE, WITH ITS CASTLES AND PICTURESQUE VILLAGES The Carlat rock, now owned by the Principality of Monaco, is a place steeped in history. It was once the most important fortress in the Haute-Auvergne region. The 40-metre-high crag is famous for its rock-climbing site and its stunning panoramic view of the Monts du Cantal. History buffs won't want to miss visiting the châteaux of Conros in Arpajon-sur-Cère (11 km from your rental), Anjony in Tournemire, one of the Most Beautiful Villages in France (18 km away) and Pesteils in Polminhac (21 km away). These monuments will introduce you to some magnificent architecture. When you arrive at Laroquebrou, Petite Cité de Caractère ®, you'll come face to face with a castle (another one!). The Château de Montal is strategically positioned on a promontory at the entrance to the Gorges de la Cère. It offers a bird's eye view of the Gothic church and the streets lined with picturesque houses. A visit to Salers, a medieval town listed as one of the most beautiful villages in France, is a must when visiting the Cantal. In each alleyway, you'll look up to discover the architectural treasures of the old houses. The small shops and numerous restaurants will ensure you have a great time. And of course, we recommend that you try the famous Salers PDO cheese. If you're passing through Aurillac, take time to explore its pedestrianised town centre. From the banks of the Jordanne, through the Jardin des Carmes, the Abbey of Saint-Géraud and the Château Sainte-Etienne (another one!), you'll appreciate the peace and quiet of the Cantal prefecture.
