Description
Situated in the Bastides Albigeoises and in the Gaillac vineyards, the village of Castelnau de Montmiral is classified as one of the "Most Beautiful Villages in France". In the heart of the medieval village of Castelnau de Montmiral, on the first floor of a 17th-century house, relax in this artist's flat just a few metres from the central square. The stone walls and warm woodwork create a harmony of tradition. You'll enjoy panoramic views over the rolling countryside, the valleys and the outskirts of the Grésigne forest. You will have at your disposal: a well-equipped kitchen, a living room with a sitting area including a sofa bed, a bedroom with 1 double bed (140 x 190) opening onto a study area, a shower room (shower and washbasin), a wc. Wifi internet access. A place to recharge your batteries and relax. It is possible to hire a keyboard (88 keys). The south-facing windows offer a view of the church, which is adorned with ancient wall paintings (17th and 19th centuries) and features a listed 13th-century cross. Electricity consumption extra (meter reading required). Sheets and towels are extra. Pets are not allowed. Nearby, you can meet winemakers who will share their expertise and passion with you. In the evenings in summer, you can also enjoy the aperitif concerts in Gaillac. Make the most of the Vère Grésigne leisure centre, with its swimming, horse-riding, pedalos, tennis, mini-golf and other activities, or go for a walk in the Grésigne forest. Peace and quiet guaranteed. Possibility of taking part in artistic activities organised during the summer in the form of courses (painting, sculpture, engraving, writing, theatre... ask for information). From the roundabout at the foot of the village coming from Gaillac or Puyselci, go uphill towards the village, barely 20 metres to the right along the wall of the Rue du Forail, go 50 metres uphill until you come to a sign indicating a cul-de-sac, at which point you immediately turn left into Rue Porte Neuve. Go straight on for 50 metres until you reach Place de l'Hôpital. The house that welcomes you is on the corner of Rue Porte Neuve and Place de l'Hopital.

The house was acquired as a venue for cultural activities: exhibitions of paintings, engravings and sculptures, and workshops for creating and writing, in a nutshell. The entire ground floor and outbuildings are dedicated to these activities, which are currently developed mainly during the summer months. It was also a place to live for the two co-owners, who each had their own flat on the first floor. Fifteen years later, one of them left, handing over her flat to Dominique Flecher, who wanted to continue the adventure. This is the flat we are offering for rent. With its striking 17th-century fireplace, French-style ceiling and exceptional view from its position on the rampart, Dominique wanted it to remain in keeping with its origins and those of the village, by respecting its original style, even if it had to accommodate modern comfort requirements. This house, which must have suffered destruction and even fire, is made of stone, cob and wood and gives the impression of a ship that has sailed through the centuries and is now coming to meet us.
