Veules-les-Roses: 10 minutes from our house. One of the most beautiful villages in Normandy. Follow the path along the Veules, the smallest river in France, to discover the watercress plantation, thatched cottages and mills before arriving at the seafront. Perhaps you'll see an oyster farmer there - you can buy oysters from him. You can also take a walk on the cliffs or simply relax on the beach. You're on the Côte d'Albâtre, the starting point for hikes on the GR 21. Saint-Pierre-le-Viger: our village is home to Terre de Lin, a company that scutches and processes flax. If you come from mid-June onwards, you'll see the fields in bloom, all blue. You can also visit the Carrefour du Lin in Doudeville, the Ferme au fil des saisons in Amfreville-les-Champs and the Festival du Lin et de l'Aiguille at the beginning of July. Saint-Valéry-en-Caux: 13 km from La Linerie. On one side of the channel is the old Saint-Valéry, preserved from the German bombardments of 1940, with its St Léger quarter, its little fishermen's cottages and the Maison Henri IV, a quarter that can be explored on foot. On the other, the modern part of the town, with its shops, Friday morning market, restaurants and Notre-Dame-du-bon-Port chapel. You can also buy fish when the fishing boats return... Dieppe: 23 km from our accommodation. The fishing port of Dieppe is very well known as it is the leading French port for scallops, which you can of course sample in many restaurants in autumn and winter. Beach, harbours, seafront, cliffs, vast and magnificent spaces with multiple reflections, right in front of you: La Manche. __ Fécamp: 43 minutes from our accommodation. Fécamp has remained an authentic town with its port and fishermen's houses. Climb to Cap Fagnet and discover the Chapel of the Virgin Mary overlooking the whole of Fécamp from the top of the cliff. Visit the Palais Bénédictine, where Benedictine is produced from 27 plants and spices. The Sainte-Trinité abbey church is a superb example of primitive Gothic, and you'll be amazed by the clarity of the interior. Etretat is 23 minutes from Fécamp. We recommend a visit to admire the superb cliffs. Rouen: 55 minutes from our traditional gîte. The capital of Normandy can be explored on foot (or by mini-train), as most of its centre is pedestrianised: Notre-Dame Cathedral, painted by Monet, the narrow streets with timber-framed houses (rue St Romain, rue des Chanoines, etc.), St Maclou Church and Aisters, St Ouen Abbey with its sublime stained-glass windows, the former Parliament of Normandy, the Gros Horloge, Place du Vieux Marché, etc. For lovers of fine dining, there's plenty to choose from, with Rouen boasting 3 Michelin-starred restaurants, as well as numerous gastronomic establishments, brasseries and fast-food outlets to suit all tastes. When it comes to museums, Rouen has a wealth of them, including the Musée des Beaux-Arts de Rouen (the 2nd largest collection of Impressionist works in France after the Musée d'Orsay), the Musée de la Céramique, the Musée Le Secq des Tournelles (ironwork), the Musée Flaubert et de l'Histoire de la Médecine, the Musée des Antiquités, the Musée d'Histoire Naturelle, the Musée national de l'Education...
