Cascades des Tufs holiday cottage in La Châtelaine, near Arbois In La Châtelaine, in the Jura, this holiday cottage accommodates 2 people in a stunning natural setting, close to Arbois and the Reculée des Planches-près-Arbois. Set in a renovated property at the heart of a 3-hectare park, this gîte features a double bedroom, a fully equipped kitchen, a terrace and access to a shared 10 × 5 m heated outdoor swimming pool, open in season subject to weather conditions. It is the perfect place for a couple to stay whilst exploring the Jura countryside, the Arbois vineyards, the waterfalls, the lakes and the many hiking trails in the area. A holiday let for 2 people in the heart of the Jura The accommodation covers approximately 42 m² and comprises a living area with a fully equipped kitchen. An induction hob, dishwasher, oven, microwave and everyday kitchenware make it easy to prepare meals during your stay. The separate bedroom has a double bed (160 x 200) and leads off to a spacious en-suite bathroom (with hairdryer), featuring a walk-in shower (1.70 m x 1 m), washbasin and wall-mounted toilet. The gîte naturally features a flat-screen TV and free Wi-Fi. Pets are not permitted. Outside, a terrace with garden furniture allows you to enjoy direct access to the grounds and the view of the swimming pool. Baby equipment is available. A vacuum cleaner and all necessary cleaning supplies are provided in the gîte. This limestone valley is home to the famous Cascade des Tufs, fed by the River Cuisance. The natural site is a protected area Several routes lead to the magnificent Cascade des Tufs, notably via the old Roman road, the Chatelaine viewpoints, the Moisdons forest…… on foot or by mountain bike – a perfect spot for hiking enthusiasts. The forests, viewing points and paths of the First Jura Plateau also offer a variety of walks starting directly from the property’s grounds. What’s there to see around the gîte? Arbois is an unmissable stop nearby. The town is closely associated with the wines of the Jura vineyards and the Louis Pasteur House Museum, and offers the chance to explore wine cellars, winemakers’ houses, local heritage and cuisine. For a nature excursion, the region’s lakes and waterfalls include Lake Chalain, which offers beaches and outdoor activities, whilst the Cascades du Hérisson area features seven waterfalls along the Hérisson torrent. You can also explore Baume-les-Messieurs, notable for its valley, abbey, cave and tufa waterfall, followed by Poligny, the ‘Capital of Comté’. In Salins-les-Bains, the Grande Saline is just a few minutes away, and you can also learn about the history of salt production. The site has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2009.
