Description
Renovated 19th century sheepfold with homemade furniture for this stone mountain gîte. The "country" style (wood, slate, stone, terracotta) creates a warm atmosphere in the middle of a very small, quiet and isolated hamlet in the Ariege Pyrenees Regional Nature Park. The cottage is attached to the owners' house, but not overlooked. The predominance of wood reinforces the authentic atmosphere of the estate, and the river Orle, which flows through this 4-hectare area of tranquil nature, is ideal for relaxation and fishing. Depending on the season, the estate is looked after by part of the herd of Mérens and Castillonnais horses, including the beautiful Castillonnais stallion "Vé t'Aqui d'Autet", supreme champion of the breed in 2012. As a backdrop to the estate: the Mail de Bulard 2754m evokes the past. It's the perfect place for nature lovers, to get away from it all, hike, snowshoe, observe, relax and contemplate. Ground floor: Living room (fireplace, TV, wifi) with kitchen area and sitting area. Upstairs: 1 bedroom with 1 double bed and 1 single bed, shower room, wc. Electric heating. Private grounds with garden furniture and barbecue. Sheets, household linen and biodegradable cleaning products provided free of charge. Cleaning service on request. Shared outside laundry room with shared washing machine.

Access map
At Saint Girons, take the D618 towards Castillon. Continue towards Sentein. At Lascoux, turn left and follow the signs for "Vallée d'Orle/Luentein" on the D704. Continue straight ahead and take the second turning on the left over the bridge, where you will see a large sign indicating our two gites. At the end of this dead-end road, follow the signs to Domaine de l'Artigou.

Join us in our passion for Mérens and Castillonnais horses (endangered local breeds), sharing life on the family farm and discovering the attractive areas of our Parc Naturel Régional des Pyrénées Ariégeoises (Mont Valier, Mail de Bulard, Maubermé, Crabère) in search of nature, escape, authenticity and simplicity. We have been living on site, having restored the hamlet and grounds since 1992, and have been awarded the "Valeur Parc" for the quality of the site. Your accommodation has been completely renovated in keeping with local architecture using natural materials (wood, stone, slate) by craftsmen from the Ariege and Philippe, the owner.
