Description
Stone mountain gîte in an old 19th-century sheepfold, renovated with home-made furniture. Its country style (wood, slate, stone) creates a warm atmosphere. It is situated on the banks of a river in the middle of a small, quiet and isolated hamlet in the Parc Naturel Régional des Pyrénées Ariégeoises. The predominance of wood reinforces the authentic atmosphere of the estate, and the river Orle, which flows through this 4-hectare area of tranquil nature, is ideal for relaxation and fishing. Depending on the season, the estate is looked after by part of the herd of Mérens and Castillonnais horses, including the beautiful Castillonnais stallion "Vé t'Aqui d'Autet", supreme champion of the breed in 2012. In the background: the Mail de Bulard 2754m evokes the past. It's the perfect place for nature lovers to get away from it all - hiking, snowshoeing, observation, lazing around, contemplation, mountain biking, local crafts, wildlife, flora and a soothing panorama. Ground floor: Entrance hall, fitted kitchen (microwave) with dining area (TV, wifi). Shower room with wc. First floor: 1 bedroom with 1 double bed, lounge area with 1 bed for 1 child. Electric heating. Private grounds with garden furniture and barbecue. Bed linen and household linen provided free of charge. Cleaning service on request. Shared outside laundry room with shared washing machine.

At Saint Girons, take the D618 towards Castillon. Continue towards Sentein. At Lascoux, turn left and follow the signs for "Vallée d'Orle/Luentein" on the D704. Continue straight ahead and take the second turning on the left over the bridge, where you will see a large sign indicating our two gites. At the end of this dead-end road, follow the signs to Domaine de l'Artigou.

Join us in our passion for Mérens and Castillonnais horses (endangered local breeds), sharing life on the family farm and discovering the attractive areas of our Parc Naturel Régional des Pyrénées Ariégeoises (Mont Valier, Mail de Bulard, Maubermé, Crabère) in search of nature, escape, authenticity and simplicity. We have been living on site, having restored the hamlet and grounds since 1992, and have been awarded the "Valeur Parc" for the quality of the site. Your accommodation has been completely renovated in keeping with local architecture using natural materials (wood, stone, slate) by craftsmen from the Ariege and Philippe, the owner.
