The advantages of the accommodation
Description
Casa Maestracci is a traveller's home where you can put down your suitcases and forget the passage of time for a while. Dating back to the 18th century, it belonged to a Corsican family who left to make their fortune in Indochina at the beginning of the 20th century. Preserving traces of this distant orient, like an invitation to travel and daydream, the atmosphere of the house speaks to us of the past with elegance. Original cement tiles, antique furniture, objects and paintings inhabit every room in the house, giving it a unique cachet. Zilia is an authentic Corsican village where the church bells mark the hours of the day and night. It's here, in my home village, on the square I knew as a child, buzzing with life and where too many shutters had gradually closed, that Casa Maestracci, named after the family who once lived there, is preparing to live again as a travel home, welcoming guests from all over the world. If you love old-world charm and places that tell a story, or if you're curious about Corsican culture and its terroir, Casa Maestracci will welcome you with generosity, in a tradition where hospitality is sacred.
Home
The history of Casa Maestracci : The house is named after the family who lived there before we bought it. It thus bears the traces of successive generations of its inhabitants. At the beginning of the 20th century, the Maestracci family, like many Corsicans, went into exile in Indochina to make their fortune. They owned a very well-known hotel in Saigon. It has been renovated with care and respect for its identity, so that the modern comforts that have been added do not detract from the historic charm that characterises it. Each of our rooms has a private bathroom or shower room and toilet. Each is equipped with a Queen Size bed and air conditioning. Breakfast is a special time, a chance to wake up gently and taste regional specialities and local produce. It is served on the terrace overlooking the valley or in the dining room, two relaxing areas shared by our guests, depending on their programme for the day. During your stay, we'll make sure you're comfortable in the house.

If you love old-world charm and places that tell a story, or if you're curious about Corsican culture and its terroir, Casa Maestracci will welcome you with generosity, in a tradition where hospitality is sacred. Situated in the square of the small village of Zilia, in the Balagne region, at the foot of Montegrosso and 20 minutes from the sandy beaches of Calvi, the house is ideally located between the sea and the mountains. It has been renovated with care and respect for its identity, so that the modern comforts it offers take nothing away from the historic charm that characterises it. Four large, tastefully decorated rooms, two overlooking the village and two overlooking the valley, are available for overnight stays, in the style of a guest house. Each of our rooms has a private bathroom or shower room and toilet. Each has a queen-size bed and air conditioning. Balagne is one of Corsica's most popular regions for visitors. The beauty and diversity of its landscapes, both coastal and mountainous, make it an ideal holiday destination. Whether you prefer to laze on the beach or explore the hilltop villages with their stone streets and the island's culinary specialities and rich wine-growing heritage, our accommodation in Haute-Corse is ideal. A welcome booklet, listing our best addresses in the region, will help you make the most of your stay in Corsica, and we are also available to our guests to talk things over and make their stay with us and on the island an unforgettable experience.
