Fun activities: hire of paddles, canoes, kayaks, pedalos, electric boats (no licence required) or even an introduction to jet-skiing for children and towed buoys. Fishing: The lake is a world-renowned spot for carp and predator fishing. Nature & Hiking (From the gîte) Le Tour du Lac à Vélo (cycling around the lake): Direct access to the 38 km fully secured cycle path that goes all the way around the lake (path 800 m from the gîte). Bird paradise: France's leading spot for observing the migration of Grey Cranes in autumn and spring (birdwatching facilities nearby). Parc Accro Der: A tree climbing course for all the family. 🏛️ Culture & Entertainment Joa Casino in Giffaumont (4 km): Slot machines, gaming tables, bar and restaurant on the waterfront. 🗺️ Map to the gîte (Châtillon-sur-Broué) The gîte is ideally situated in the heart of the Lac du Der region. Here's how to reach us easily: 🚗 By Car (The most recommended way). From Paris (approximately 2h30 to 3h): Take the A4 motorway towards Reims/Metz/Nancy, then the Saint-Dizier exit via the N4. Then follow the signs for Lac du Der / Châtillon-sur-Broué. From Reims or Troyes (approx. 1h15): Quick access via departmental roads through the Champagne region. From Nancy or Metz (approx. 1h45): Take the N4 towards Paris, exit at Saint-Dizier, then follow the signs for Lac du Der. Note for your arrival: Free private parking is available directly in front of the facility. 🚊 By train Vitry-le-François station (about 25-30 minutes from the gîte): Served by direct TGV and TER trains from Paris-Est (1h15 to 1h30 journey). Saint-Dizier station (about 20 minutes from the gîte): Served by regional TER services. Travel advice: For greater freedom and to make the most of the area around the lake, we strongly advise you to hire a car at your arrival station or book a taxi in advance. ✈️ By plane Paris-Charles de Gaulle (CDG) or Paris-Orly airports: Approximately 2? hours' drive from the resort. Train connections (TGV/TER) or car hire are available directly from the airports. Châlons-Vatry airport: Approximately 50 minutes' drive from the gîte (seasonal/low-cost flights).
