The completely renovated house, classified 4 stars as furnished tourist accommodation, combines comfort and quality equipment. After crossing the terrace, you enter the large living room on the ground floor. The renovation highlighted the exposed stone walls. Some antique furniture decorates the room. The terracotta color of the kitchen brightens up this space open to the living room. All the equipment (hob, oven, microwave, dishwasher, fridge-freezer) to prepare delicious meals is at your disposal. A large dining table demarcates the dining area. In the living room, comfortably seated on the sofas, you can enjoy the outside environment thanks to the window which frames the view of the landscape. A practical laundry room, with washing machine and dryer, and separate toilets complete this living space. The two floors of the house are devoted to more intimate spaces. On the 1st floor, you will find 2 bedrooms equipped with double beds and a bathroom with spa shower. A living room, with library, desk and BZ sofa, can be used as an extra bedroom. Very close to the L'Oustal del Pastre lodge, the Château d'Alleuze, of which only a square keep and ruined towers remain, is perched on a rocky peak. You can discover this magnificent site, which dominates the Truyère gorges, on foot or by mountain bike. From the village of La Barge, a loop hike (10 km) passes near the Truyère river and the small Saint-Illide church. Nearby, the cemetery and the Stations of the Cross, inseparable from the church, bear witness to the rich heritage of the site. This route offers varied landscapes and superb views of the gorges. During the summer and school holidays, the Château d'Alleuze is magnificently lit up. Visits accompanied by a tour guide are available by reservation from the Saint Flour tourist office. If you are a seasoned mountain biker, take mountain bike circuit no. 7 from Saint-Flour (35 km - 900 meters of altitude difference). It will take you near the Truyère gorges and you will benefit from a breathtaking view of the Alleuze site. The gorges and valley of Truyère are classified among the remarkable French landscapes. The site, populated by birds of prey and deer, will seduce you with the quality of its landscapes and the richness of its biodiversity. 3 large dam lakes Garabit-Grandval, Lanau and Sarrans, line the Truyère river for more than 160 km. In this exceptional natural setting, you can indulge in various nautical and fishing activities at the Lanau and Garabit Mallet bases. If you are a fan of pAn industrial heritage, the Truyère hydroelectric complex is highlighted through activities and guided tours. The Garabit viaduct, the work of Gustave Eiffel and Léon Boyer, spans the Truyère gorges. The famous iron giant, built between 1880 and 1884, will impress you with its scale: 564 meters long and 122 meters high. An unmissable visit just 20 km from Alleuze. On the Truyère gorges circuit, take the time to stop at the Mallet belvedere or the village of Chaliers. Its sites offer beautiful panoramic views of the meanders of the river and the steep, wooded slopes of the gorges. Note, starting from Val d'Arcomie, the Truyère valley hike (10 km) which offers a succession of views of the Monts du Cantal and the Monts de la Margeride. The town of Saint-Flour, 12 km from Alleuze, is located on a volcanic rocky spur. It dominates the Planèze, a vast basalt plateau located at the foot of the Cantal mountains. Labeled a Country of Art and History, the medieval city of Saint-Flour has a remarkable religious heritage: cathedral, Notre-Dame collegiate church, former Jacobin convent. When visiting the city, don't miss the Consular House. Clinging to the ramparts of the upper town, this major building displays a beautiful Renaissance facade and houses the collections of the Alfred Douët Museum of Art and History (a local notable). Take advantage of your visit to savor, in one of the city's restaurants, local specialties, notably the famous blond lentil, grown on the Planèze. If you want to treat yourself to an unforgettable experience, head to the Saint-Flour Coltines aerodrome and board a microlight or hot air balloon to fly with the birds! You can also fly over the volcanic landscapes, summits, ridges and plateaus of the Monts du Cantal. Not far from Saint-Flour, 30 km from Alleuze, the thermal spa resort of Chaudes-Aigues is a surprising destination. It has the warmest waters in Europe and has 32 springs, the most famous being the Par spring which flows at 82°C. Quite naturally, you will find the Geothermal Museum and a thermal center on site (which is due to reopen in 2024). Between Cantal and Aveyron, the Alleuze region with its varied landscapes, its rich built heritage and its authentic local products is an ideal destination to recharge your batteries.
