The advantages of the accommodation
Description
It's hard not to fall under the spell of this old mountain farm renovated with taste and passion. Nestled at 1,130 meters above sea level, in a hamlet in the town of Saint-Jacques-des-Blats, this character cottage can comfortably accommodate 8 people. You will stay in the Regional Natural Park of Auvergne Volcanoes in a preserved environment. Hiking or cycling enthusiasts, nature enthusiasts or those looking for rest, look no further, you've come to the right place! * A mountain farm transformed into a cozy cottage for 8 people in Saint-Jacques-des-Blats A cottage to meet all together in the mountains, with family or friends, such is the promise of this vacation rental. You will stay in a robust 110 m2 stone house, typical of Auvergne architecture. The renovation has preserved the charm of the old building while making it comfortable and anchoring it in current trends. As soon as you arrive, you will be seduced by the large living room of 54 m². Wooden beams, terracotta floor and exposed stone, the pride of place has been made with natural materials. The soft bluish gray shades on part of the walls, combined with the light shades of the raw wood, create a harmonious and soothing atmosphere. The open kitchen is functional and very well equipped. In the center of the room, the large farmhouse table, authentic and convivial, provides the link between the kitchen and the living area. The imposing fireplace, the original cantou, has been preserved and now houses a wood stove. Comfortably nestled in the sofa and armchairs, you will enjoy gathering around the warmth of the fire. The cottage has 2 bathrooms, with walk-in shower and 2 separate toilets. All linens and towels are available, as well as a washing machine. Carefully decorated in a chalet spirit, the 3 cozy bedrooms are located upstairs. The first bedroom has a large double bed (160 cm X 200 cm), the second a double bed (140 cm X 200 cm). The third bedroom accommodates 4 beds (90 cm). Like a dormitory, it combines several beds: 2 single beds and 1 bunk bed. For your comfort, bedding is of high quality and sheets are provided. If you come on holiday with a young child, a baby kit will be provided free of charge (cot, high chair, bath). On this floor, around a small fireplace, a more intimate space has been set up for a reading or board game break. It has access to the 36 m² wooden terrace which blends in perfectly with the old building. The place is perfect for relaxing while enjoying the Plomb du Cantal and the Cère valley. A view that will not soon be forgotten! To take your meals outside, a second terrace, with garden furniture and barbecue, is fitted out in front of the house. Another relaxation area, with lounge, is set in a shady green setting. In addition, you will have a room to store your bikes. * A vacation to explore the Cantal volcano By staying in Saint-Jacques-des-Blats, in the heart of the largest volcano in Europe, total immersion in nature awaits you, all year round. If you come for a hiking stay, many circuits are marked out all around the Cantal mountains. From Saint-Jacques-des-Blats, a hike that requires a good level, leads to Plomb du Cantal, the highest point in the department at 1,855 meters above sea level. To access the summit of the Plomb du Cantal, several options are possible. On foot via the GR®4 (4h round trip) from the Lioran resort or via the other side side of the Prat de Bouc pass (3h round trip). From the Col de Prat de Bouc, the site is accessible to mountain bikes. You can also take a cable car from Le Lioran, then a path, partly in stairs. In any case, you will not be disappointed by the magnificent overview of the Cantal mountains, the Cère valley and the Puys chain. The Lioran resort, less than 10 km from your vacation rental, is open summer and winter. To have fun on the ski slopes or fill up on thrills on a mountain bike or tree climbing, everything is planned. During your escapades on the Cantal mountains, take the time to observe your environment, the wild fauna and flora are remarkable. Before any activity, remember to look at the right actions for nature and your safety. Very popular with hikers, the Puy Griou can be discovered, in particular, from the Col de Font de Cère. From the top of its 1,690 meters of altitude, you will appreciate the breathtaking panorama of the Puy Mary, the Plomb du Cantal and the valleys of the Cère and the Jordanne. The Puy Mary (1783 meters), labeled Grand Site de France, at the Pas de Peyrol pass, is the emblematic summit of Cantal. A landscaped path provides easy access, but not without effort! An orientation table is installed at its top. On the way down, stop at the Maison de Site du Puy Mary. We will tell you everything about the Cantal massif, the waterfalls, the places of activity, and all the heritage and natural points of interest to visit. You can enhance your stay with a getaway to Murat, less than 20 km from your vacation rental. The city of three rocks, classified as a Small City of Character®, is one of the oldest towns in the department. In the historic center, you can admire medieval and Renaissance houses with typical slate roofs. Heritage enthusiasts will continue their journey to Saint-Flour, the only site labeled Pays d'art et d'histoire in Cantal, or plan an outing to Salers, ranked among the Most Beautiful Villages in France. Cheeses, charcuterie, Saint-Flour lentils, biscuits, honey… before leaving, stop at a producer or at a market. Cantal is full of tasty and authentic local products. It would be a shame to deprive yourself!
