Small recommendation from the owners: the day of your arrival or during your stay, book a table at the restaurant La bergerie. It is a few steps from the gîte or order your meal to take away. 100% natural holidays between Cantal and Aveyron The village Vezels-Roussy is located on a hilly and agricultural territory. The landscape is marked and green hills and valleys and it is good to walk, on foot or by bike. Starting from the church, school or citystadium, 3 hiking trails are marked. Cycling enthusiasts will not be left out since 7 loop routes, starting from the village, ranging from 65 km to 120 km, are dedicated to cycling. If you want to surpass yourself, one of the 4 Romain Bardet Experience loops goes through Vezels-Roussy. This loop criss-crosses the Châtaigneraie over 138.6 km and offers an elevation gain of 2301 meters. It can be done in one go or over several days. Departure is from the Small City of Character® of Marcolès, 30 km from your gite. Within a radius of 30 km around your vacation rental, you can indulge in various and varied activities, between Cantal and Aveyron. A short overview of some visits to make with family or friends. In Taussac, the imaginary trail and its Magic Forest circuit will amaze young and old alike. Undergrowth, birds, small stream during this hike in the forest, the atmospheres follow one another. Also discover the Jardin des 5 Sens and the Maison du Bois at the end of the trail. The history of Teissières-lès-Bouliès is intimately linked to water. In the 19th and early 20th centuries, naturally carbonated mineral water was exported around the world. The activity stopped at the dawn of the Second World War. A 5 km hiking route, La Font Salada, will take you from the heart of the village to the famous spring. Freshness guaranteed on hot summer days! In addition, a heritage trail, laid out over 1500 meters, highlights the small rural heritage of the town. 4 km away, the Maurs lake in Leucamp takes place in a circle of wooded mountains. Shaded areas, picnic areas, furnished relaxation area, games for children and trout fishing (day pass): everything is provided for a good time with the family. The Saut du Chien site in Montézic is made up of a succession of waterfalls. The name of the place is due to a large rock, in the shape of a dog's head, which can be seen at the foot of a waterfall. Two platforms have been specially installed overhead. A footpath and a botanical trail have been laid out. Models, photos and staged objects tell the story of wolfram (or tungsten) mining at La Maison des Mineurs de la Châtaigneraie, in Leucamp. You can complete the visit by taking the hiking route "From granite to wolfram". Most of this 11 km route is shaded, which is particularly pleasant in summer. In addition, the path is punctuated by beautiful viewpoints over the green Goul valley and the north of Aveyron. A small neo-Romanesque church dedicated to Saint-Jacques sits atop the rock of Ronesque. Accessible by car or on foot, the site has 2 orientation tables from where you can observe the Château de Messilhac and a magnificent panorama of the Cantal and Aubrac mountains. The rock, the old castle and all the historical and natural heritage elements of the village of Carlat are also worth a stop. Different hiking routes, on foot or mountain bike, allow you to discover them. A common history unites the rocks of Monaco and Carlat. To find out more, an augmented reality device reconstructs in 3D the buildings and events that have marked the history of the citadel. Junhac, Sénezergues, Entraygues-sur-Truyère, Le Fel, Cassaniouze. Charming villages can be visited, even for a short time. We recommend that you “combine” them to have a pleasant day. The Small Towns of Character® of Montsalvy and Marcolès, as well as the village of Conques, classified as the Most Beautiful Villages of France®, are also to be added to your road book! Perhaps you will come to Aurillac, the prefecture of Cantal, to attend the International Street Theater Festival at the end of August? You will appreciate its pedestrian town centre, its shops and its shops selling local products. Heritage enthusiasts will visit the Saint-Géraud Abbey or the Château Saint-Etienne, which houses the volcano museum. The Cantal mountains, in the Regional Natural Park of the Volcanoes of Auvergne, are located about 1 hour by car from your gîte. The hiking trails are numerous and suitable for different levels. Splendid landscapes await you. Le Puy Mary, classified as a Great Site of France and Salers, classified among the Most Beautiful Villages in France are among the must-see sites. One last piece of advice: take advantage of your holidays to take the time to taste the local specialities: cheese, charcuterie, bourriols, truffade… Your taste buds will love it!
