Description

The Parayre mill, which dates back to the 17th century, was originally a fulling mill. Wooden hammers used the water power from the Rouveyrole spring to turn hemp into cloth. It became a milling mill, equipped with a turbine and generator in 1935, and its hydraulic electricity production enabled the village of Les Vignes to be electrified with 24 light bulbs (long before the creation of Électricité de France). It was later transformed into a sawmill with the construction of an extension in which logs from the Causse Méjean were transformed into wood fibre. Your hosts, Yan and Isabelle, have left the Paris region to bring this family property back to life. As a first step, they have re-commissioned the mill's turbine and are producing "green energy". Today, the project includes 5 duplex guest rooms and a common room with a kitchen. Direct access to the Rouveyrole spring and the Tarn awaits you at the foot of the rooms.
