Discover Épernay and the surrounding area on holiday

Épernay, the world capital of champagne, and its surrounding area invite you to discover a blend of history, tradition and modernity. Start your holiday in Épernay with a stroll along the town's central thoroughfare, the Avenue de Champagne, considered to be one of the most expensive avenues in the world! This avenue is home to many of the great champagne houses, such as Moët & Chandon and Perrier-Jouët. It is also listed by UNESCO, along with other sites, as a "Coteaux, Maisons et Caves de Champagne". At the end of the avenue, you won't want to miss the sublime Tour de Castellane, which dominates the town of Épernay and the entire Marne Valley. To go back to the origins of champagne, you need to travel a few kilometres from Épernay, to the village of Hautvillers. This village is associated with the founding father of champagne, Dom Pérignon, where he is buried today. It was he who improved and considerably developed champagne-making techniques. From the promontory, you'll have a panoramic view of the entire Épernay basin and vineyards as far as the eye can see! From your gîte, continue your journey to the south of Épernay. The Route Touristique du Champagne continues towards the Côte des Blancs, with its many charming villages in bloom: Cramant, Avize, Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, Blancs-Côteaux (or Vertus). It ends at Mont Aimé, which rises to 240 m and creates a clear break with the Champagne plain. From the orientation table, you can enjoy a 360° panoramic view of the Champagne vineyards. After a day's sightseeing, you'll have earned a well-deserved rest in your Clévacances gîte before setting off on new adventures! Settle into one of our many approved gîtes to discover the charm of Epernay for a night or a longer stay.

Activities to do near Épernay in the Champagne region

A multitude of activities await you in and around the town of Épernay. Your holiday in Champagne, in one of our Clévacances gîtes, will give you the opportunity to meet the producers and discover the wine-making process during a cellar tour. Of course, this sparkling experience ends with a tasting session, in moderation. A product of excellence known and recognised the world over, champagne has been classified as an AOC since 1936. But Épernay is not just about champagne! Around Épernay, there are numerous signposted hiking trails that provide an ideal playground. For an outdoor holiday, make the most of the Champagne countryside and its landscapes. Discover the heights of Hautvillers on the Bois de Saint-Marc walk, between vineyards and forests. Cycling enthusiasts can tackle the Côte de Mutigny and the roads of the Montagne de Reims. Around Épernay, heritage enthusiasts can discover the Dormans Memorial, a unique site steeped in history and a symbol of the battles of the Marne between 1914 and 1918. As you travel along the Marne valley, you won't want to miss the statue of Pope Urban II in Châtillon-sur-Marne, the village where he is said to have been born. He is best known for having initiated the First Crusade. South of Épernay, the church of Chavot-Courcourt is also worth a visit. From the valley, it gives the impression of being lost in the middle of the vineyards. Between heritage, gastronomy, culture and nature, Eperney offers many activities to do and discover during your next stay in the Marne. Choose a Clévacances rental for a quality, safe holiday. Our wide range of accommodation and gîtes will satisfy even the most demanding of guests, thanks to their certified quality. With Clévacances, you can leave with complete confidence!
