Culinary specialities of Clermont-Ferrand

Tourism professionals often highlight the delights of Auvergne to attract the interest of the general public. And they don't need to systematically promote the same recipes, as there are so many quality products in the region! First of all, there are the succulent meat specialities such as Petit Salé aux lentilles, Gigot Brayaude and Tripoux d'Auvergne. You may also have heard of the region's emblematic dairy products: Bleu de Laqueuille, Fourme d'Ambert, Gaperon, Charolais…

Clermont-Ferranders also love egg-based dishes such as Pachade and Omelette Brayaude. Are you more attracted to sweet dishes? Your taste buds will be satisfied with the Milliard aux cerises, the Pompe aux pommes or the delicious pâtes de fruits d'Auvergne found in all good patisseries. To round off a dinner, it's hard to resist Verveine du Velay, a digestive liqueur used in the preparation of several desserts.

Activities to do in Clermont-Ferrand

Climbing the Puy de Dôme is the must-do activity in Clermont-Ferrand! The most adventurous climb to the top of this volcano on foot, while the majority of visitors choose the Dômes train to reach this site, which offers an indescribable panorama! As a couple or as a family, we then invite you to experience the Michelin Adventure. It retraces the history of this great company embodied by the imposing and jovial Michelin Man. You can discover the evolution of technologies and learn about an industry that has meant more to Clermont-Ferrand than any other. If you fancy some fresh air during your stay in the Auvergne, then head for the Jardin des Plantes, also known as the Jardin Lecoq. It's the lungs of the city, and is a popular spot for holidaymakers and Clermont-Ferranders alike as soon as the sun comes out. Make the most of your visit to the Puy-de-Dôme to see the many monuments open to the public. These include the Cathedral of Notre-Dame-de-l'Assomption, a superb Romanesque building with some remarkable murals. The equestrian statue of Vercingetorix on the Place de Jaude and the meticulously decorated Church of Saint-Léger are other features that add to the richness of the local historical heritage. Would you particularly like to recharge your batteries? Take advantage of a spa treatment at the Thermes de Royat and recharge your batteries!

Clermont-Ferrand: must-sees in the surrounding area
