Located in the Saintois region, south of Nancy, Haroué is a charming little village that hides an architectural treasure: the Château de Haroué. Built in the 18th century, this masterpiece of the Age of Enlightenment is often referred to as the "little Chambord of Lorraine", and is a must-see for history and heritage lovers.

The Château de Haroué is a symbol of the elegance and refinement of Lorraine's high nobility. Built between 1720 and 1729 on the remains of an ancient medieval castle, it incorporates the four towers and moat of that fortress into its architecture. Designed by architect Germain Boffrand, famous for his work on the Château de Lunéville, Haroué impresses with its unique architecture, where each element evokes the composition of a calendar year: 365 windows, 52 chimneys, 12 towers, and 4 bridges, representing the days, weeks, months, and seasons respectively.
The interior of the château reflects the taste of the Beauvau-Craon, the princely family who have lived here for eight generations.
The village of Haroué, with its 500 or so inhabitants, offers a peaceful, authentic setting in which to relax and discover. Visitors can stroll through the narrow streets of the village.
The Château de Haroué is open to the public during fine weather. Here you can discover the fascinating history of the site, visit the meticulously decorated rooms, and stroll through the formal gardens.
Interesting anecdote: in 1737, when Stanislas Leszczynski, King of Poland, became Duke of Lorraine, he resided at the château and fell in love with one of Marc de Beauvau-Craon's daughters, with whom he had a secret romance.
