Lac de Madine: nature and leisure at the heart of the Grand Est region
Lac de Madine, at the foot of the Côtes de Meuse, is a veritable paradise for nature lovers and outdoor enthusiasts. With its 42km of shoreline, 250 hectares of forest and two unspoilt islands, this artificial lake, created in the 1970s, has become one of the region's top destinations for families, sports enthusiasts and birdwatchers.
A paradise for nature lovers
Located in the heart of the Lorraine Regional Nature Park and part of the Natura 2000 network, Lac de Madine is an exceptional nature reserve. This showcase of biodiversity is particularly popular for its birdwatching, attracting wildlife enthusiasts who come to admire the many species of birds that nest there. The lake and surrounding area are also ideal for walking and cycling, thanks to an 18km circuit that circles it.
Activities for all the family
Lac de Madine doesn't just appeal to nature lovers; it also offers a host of leisure activities, suitable for all ages and tastes. The developed sites of Nonsard-Lamarche and Heudicourt-sous-les-Côtes, just three kilometres apart, are the starting point for a wide range of adventures for young and old.

A place steeped in history
Lac de Madine was created in the 1970s primarily to meet the water needs of the Messine region. With a volume of water of 35 million m³, it now represents 60% of the drinking water resources of the Syndicat des Eaux de la Région Messine (SERM).
