Fresnes-au-Mont - Le Vent des Forêts: an artistic journey to the heart of nature
Located in the Meuse department in the Grand Est region, the small commune of Fresnes-au-Mont hides a unique artistic treasure: the Vent des Forêts. This contemporary art centre, founded in 1997 on the initiative of six farming and forestry villages, offers visitors an immersive experience between art and nature.
Vent des Forêts: art in the heart of the forest
Since its creation, Vent des Forêts has welcomed over a hundred international artists for summer residencies. These creators, confronted with an exceptional natural setting, give free rein to their imagination to design works in situ. Every year, new sculptures and artistic installations are added to the signposted paths, offering walkers a new route every time they visit.
More than 45 kilometres of trails are available for walking, horse riding or cycling, allowing visitors to discover these original works, scattered throughout the heart of the forest.
An artistic and human event
The strength of Vent des Forêts also lies in the encounter between artists and local people. Every summer, creative work camps bring together local people, volunteers and visitors around works in progress. This interaction fosters exchanges and allows art to be appreciated in a friendly and accessible way.
In July, the area becomes the stage for a variety of cultural events: concerts, dance performances and guided walks complete this unique artistic offering.
