In the footsteps of Stanislas: a journey to the heart of history

When you visit Commercy, you'll be walking in the footsteps of Stanislas, a key figure in local history. Commercy Castle, with its majestic Place du Fer à Cheval, is one of the town's treasures.
Enjoy the Promenade Stanislas, a historical trail that takes you through the town's old quarters. You'll discover emblematic monuments such as Saint-Pantaléon Church, Place Dom Calmet and the Musée de la Céramique et de l'Ivoire, which houses an exceptional collection of ivories and porcelain.

The Commercy madeleine: a gourmet legend

It's impossible to talk about Commercy without mentioning its famous madeleine, the little shell-shaped biscuit that left its mark on literature thanks to Marcel Proust. According to legend, it was in 1755 that the madeleine was invented at the court of Stanislas, by a young servant named Madeleine. This soft, golden biscuit, topped with a small bump, has since conquered the palates of gourmets the world over.
During your stay, take the time to sample this local speciality and, why not, take home a few tins to extend the experience at home.

Les Godelles: the symbol of Commercy

Walking through the town, don't miss Les Godelles, nicknamed the "Blue Cows". This emblematic work by Meuse artist Patrick Hervelin has become a symbol of Commercy, on a par with the Madeleine and King Stanislas. Installed in the town's squares and parks, they are a modern nod to local history and creativity.

A summer at Stan': outdoor music and cinema

Summer in Commercy is a festive time with the "Un Été chez Stan'" festival. Every year, the Cour du Château comes alive with a rich programme of concerts and outdoor film screenings. The festival attracts locals and visitors alike for convivial evenings under the stars.

Commercy by bike: a cyclist's paradise

For cycling enthusiasts, Commercy is an ideal destination. The town has the "Accueil Vélo" label, guaranteeing quality services for touring cyclists. Take advantage of the many cycle routes along the Meuse and discover the region from a different angle, in the heart of nature, while visiting pretty villages.
